The present paper aims at revising some of the popular opinions on Cyprian Norwid as a poet (Norwid - intellectualist, innovator, etc.) which often hinder the reader from true understanding of Norwid’s poetry. The analyses include major elements which make Norwid’s lyrical poetry so attractive: 1. perfect rhetoric of Norwid’s literary style which, according to the author, finds its roots in the poetry of the Enlightenment.2. emotional character of Norwid’s poetry.3. Norwid’s individual and personal experience of life.
