Since 2009, a research project has been being realized at Humboldt University in Berlin, with the goal to create a new online dictionary of secularized vocabulary, called “Sacrum und Profanum”. The term secularized vocabulary is employed to that layer of colloquial vocabulary which can refer to religious as well as to profanum-related phenomena, e.g. guru, hell, sin. The dictionary comprises four languages: German, which also functions as a metalanguage, and three Western Slavonic languages: Czech, Slovak and Polish. Apart from providing some general information on the guidelines of the dictionary (sources, time range, keyword framework), the author focuses on presenting the elements of the micro-structure (primarily illustrated by the example of G. Hölle, Pol. piekło, Cz. and Slk. peklo): profiling, connotations, lexical relations, word formation, phrasemes, collocations, examples, etymology, semantic changes, proverbs, cultural contexts, appearance in advertising.
