The article is to describe the definition of the situation formed by the language of “Rituals of the Holy Matrimony Adjusted to the Customs of Polish Dioceses”. The main question is hence: “What definition of the situation is created by the text of the holy matrimony rituals in the Roman Catholic Church”. The analysis are conducted from a sociological perspective created by E. Goffman and called ”dramaturgical perspective”. According to this perspective interactions between people are seen as a performance given by a performer or a team of performers to make an impression on other people (the public). The research question is answered with a help of the theory of conceptual metaphors, the speech acts theory and the theory of conversational implicature. After recognizing main impressions, means of persuasion which were used for creating them are identified and described. The last part describes so-called impression management in analysed rituals.

Przedstawione zostaną podstawowe strategie doboru korpusu do badań w ramach KAD oraz najczęściej wykorzystywane metody: analiza frekwencji, analiza słów kluczowych, analiza kolokacji i analiza konkordancji.

Do najważniejszych z nich należą: koncentracja na rolach społecznych związanych z płcią w przypadku polskiego podręcznika i niska pozycja dzieci w hierarchii rodzinnej w przypadku podręcznika fińskiego.

Course books are described as one of the important sources for the transmission of the dominant discursive structures. The article analyses the discursive construction of family in course books for learners of Polish and Finnish as foreign languages. We conduct our analysis from the perspective of the Discourse-Historical Approach in Critical Discourse Analysis with the use of qualitative methods. The revealed discourses show some similarities but also differences in the discursive construction of family in the two countries. The most prominent differences include the concentration on gender roles in the family in the case of the Polish course book and the low position of children in the family hierarchy in the Finnish course book.
