The article discusses the role of Latin and Latin culture in mutual relations between Poles and Germans. Medieval manuscripts and their significance in the life of their owners are analysed, as are fragments of works which display shared Latin inspira-tion. Selected instances of association between Polish and German Classical studies are discussed as well.

The aim of the present article is to examine an 18th-century manuscript completed in the Benedictine Abbey in Tuchów. The basic problem is related to a narrative technique, which resembles a medieval one. Some modifications of the narration are also noticeable, but the work is mostly similar to medieval chronicles.

Central Europe entered in the sphere of Christian and Latin Civilization later than the Western part of the continent. As a result, the new members of this community had to import most of their ‘cultural goods’, but the imports were in a relatively short time recognized as their ‘own’. This general process can be testified to by the stage plays. The use of Latin lasted in Central Europe much longer than in Western Europe and coexistedwith the native languages, including in the theatrical output. The theatrical output is significant in this respect as it presents, among other sources, the mutual relationship that existed between Latin and the native language.

The aim of present paper is a closer analyze of some textual construction which are imitating a legal action at court. The scene of imagined court were popular in medieval dramaturgy, they are often used as a plot for scenic action. A particular case was created by Master Vincentius (12th Cent.): a passage from chronicle which presents a possible staging of court action.

The following article deals with a possibility of finding some parallels between oratory art and staging. They are often hidden in a text structure, but also an old practice allows us to point many similarities between both arts. Some ancient, medieval treatises were chosen for the further analysis.

The present paper focuses on friendship’s role in life and poetry of Klemens Janicki (1516–1543). Unfortunately there is a noticeable lack of sources and testimonies. The analysis of poetical works written by Janicki is only partially useful. In the epoch of the Renaissance very often the statements on friendship were exaggerated. Despite of these circumstances it is possible to analyze the poetical techniques used in texts about friends and friendship. The paper ends with an attempt to describe the nature of Ianicius’ relationships with his friends.

The present paper deals with different forms of staging, which are found in dramatic medieval forms and in narrative texts. As well in the theatre as in the text instructions for staging help to understand a sender’s message.

Source editions are a basic tool for the scientific activity. They are time-consuming and need a huge workload. They testify also skills of an editor. Since more than 30 years scholars have been using the digital technology for editing. Since 20 years an e-editing has existed as the established branch of science. Preparing a set of uniform and precise instructions for the critical apparatus in e-editions remains still a main problem. Among many programmes Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) is the most comprehensive tool for preparing of editions. This paper presents some problems related to creating of critical apparatus under TEI.

Edycje źródeł stanowią podstawowe narzędzie pracy. Ich przygotowywanie jest zawsze żmudnym procesem, a zarazem próbą dla wydawców. Ponad 30 lat temu humaniści zaczęli korzystać z techniki cyfrowej podczas tworzenia edycji. Od 20 lat można mówić o e-edytorstwie jako odrębnej dziedzinie badawczej. Nadal głównym problemem pozostaje opracowanie jednolitych zasad, które umożliwiają jak najpełniejsze zbudowanie aparatu krytycznego. Wśród wielu propozycji na szczególną uwagę zasługuje Text Encoding Initiative (TEI), który jest szeroko stosowany do tworzenia rozmaitych edycji. W artykule przedstawiono niektóre problemy związane z budowaniem aparatu krytycznego przy pomocy TEI.
