This paper presents an analysis of folk names of shoes and their parts, which were collected during dialectological research conducted in the 1990s in the Lublin and Suwałki regions. Their semantic, morphological and phonetic features as well as etymology permitted conclusions on their folk nature to be drawn and their territorial reach to be preliminarily established. Native and borrowed names, derivatives, and neosemantisms were distinguished in the examined material. An attempt was made also to carry out a cultural analysis of names of shoes and their parts as well as of their relation to the area where they occurred and social awareness of their users.
