The paper attempted to presents detailed information about a part of the historic long-distance traffic network within a certain limited area. Results of this attempt can be roughly dated to the turn of the 19th century, or more probably to the late 18th century or even earlier. The research was based on the first accurate maps of the researched area and on detailed exploration of the landscape in the area. This also included the assessment of the territory with regards to its suitability for traffic as compared to similar landscapes. The research was initiated by descriptions of several traffic routes in maps from the first accurate military surveys.

Historic execution sites were a part of the landscape and their location was obviously picked with a certain intention. They used to be situated near settlements where judicial authorities resided and obviously also close to a line of the period transport network. Many execution sites that have been discovered so far suggest that their location was intentionally picked in the immediate vicinity of a path where traffic was known or expected to be heavy near towns where judicial authorities resided.

The research dealing with historic land links can be summarized in several methods partly independent of each other. However, only a sum of all these methods creates a more accurate view of the researched topic. A rather limited range of historic written materials can be utilized when researching early historic periods; these usually reflect other historic facts, and land links are reflected indirectly or in hints only.
