What can be said about Jesus while gazing at the Old Testament? The answer is provided by Origen who rereads the figures of the Old Covenant, and in an extremely precise and totally original way discovers in them the promised Messiah. Typological exegesis becomes for this Alexandrian the source of knowledge of Jesus Christ, his humanity, work, themes, missions, as well as ways to recognize him in his everyday life and establish a closer relationship with him.

Jezus Chrystus dzięki misterium Wcielenia przychodzi, aby tylko poprzez swoją obecność, niewspominając słów i czynów, zbawczo uświęcić ten świat i każdego człowieka.

Jesus Christ is fullness of all Revelation (KO 2). What is the pure fact of His presence in the world? What are consequences of God’s Son incarnation? Answers for these questions are already given by Origen in the third century who states that „the more faultless come to the less faultless to give them some kindness”. Through mystery of Incarnation Jesus Christ comes, only by His presence, not to mention His words and deeds, to redeem and sacrifi ce the world and every man. Among these salutary advantages Origen mentions healing, extrication and sanctifi cation. On the base of his interpretations he builds a theology of God’s closeness in Jesus Christ and creates redemption categories expressed in scriptural language understandable for all believers.

Kerygma is a message containing the fundamental truths of faith and realizing the grace of salvation and the change that gives birth to real faith as well as the newness of life in Christ. This message resounds in the Church from the very beginning, because already on the day of Pentecost: “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: […] you put Jesus of Nazareth to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death” (Acts 2,14.23–24). Over time, the good news of Jesus Christ from the kerygma seed grew into teaching, dogmatic rulings and theology, and the Church became the depositary, guardian and teacher of this truth. However, he did not cease to be a keryx and returns to the first message at particular periodes of history. Also, today’s successor of saint Peter proclaims the truth: “He is alive!” Pope Francis, returning to the proclamation of the kerygma, also makes a dogmatic and pastoral reflection on his essence. By preaching – he brings God closer to man, and by teaching about the first message – he introduces the kerygma to theologians and priests.

Father Raniero Cantalamessa’s kerygmatic theology is characteristic of combining a dogmatic and pastoral dimension. Within this meaning the Italian theologian carries out an analysis and introduction of acclamation ” Jesus is the Lord”. On one hand he points out the dogmatic dimension of creed and on the other hand he presents its pastoral perception. The analysis of the early church creed of ” Jesus is the Lord” for the Italian preacher is the way to recognize Jesus, His identity, mission and justification to pro-existence and God’s will to human salvation. Moreover, after revelation of Jesus Christ presence and deeds, there is calling for human’s will to appreciate Jesus as his Lord which is a way to personal life conversion. The acclamation ”Jesus is the Lord”is one of methods of kerygmatic prophesy. It influencies a pneumatological opening, choice of changable content of preaching, inculturation, using accurate language and, also or primarily, it points to the preacher prophesing words of God. The Italian teologian states that ”the power given in the name of Jesus activates just through the preacher’s faith, not by means of usual teaching”. This is the reason why father Cantalamessa devotes much in an attempt to characterize the preacher, his attitude and formation on the base of cathegory "Jesus is the Lord”.

Any attempt to reduce or disintegrate the Christological dogma is not without an impact on the basic message of the good news, the Kerygma, as well as on its soteriological implications. The theological challenge is to make every effort to proclaim the first message as the announcement of the fullness of the revealed truth, but also to indicate the dangers arising from incomplete or unorthodox proclamation. The article presents negative consequences of heterodox Christological tendencies for the reality of the Kerygma in theology of Father Raniero Cantalamessa. These dogmatic threats and their consequences focus on the person of Jesus Christ and the mysteries of His death and resurrection.
