The aim of this paper is to identify the role of projects in the development of innovative company on the example of selected innovative enterprises from Lower Silesia. The enterprise selected for the research was the Samorządowy Informator SMS Sp. z o.o., which provides five main e-services. Each of those was designed basing on project management methodology and is a response for the market needs. The article presents the development of selected e-services and the enterprise development that could be reached through these e-services. Orientation for projects is one of the pillars to implement company’s strategy. The analysis of the enterprise indicates that ability to create e-services as well as effective project portfolio management helps in company’s development on a competitive market.

Z badań pilotażowych wynika, że większość przedsiębiorstw z branży ICT w województwie dolnośląskim nie posiada wyodrębnionych działów/spółek badawczo-rozwojowych (76%). Autorzy postanowili znaleźć przyczyny takiego stanu wybierając na badanie pilotażowe i pogłębione przedsiębiorstwa SISMS Sp. z o.o i ZPAS S.A. Problematyka działalności badawczo-rozwojowej (B+R) przedsiębiorstw bazujących na rozwiązaniach informatycznych stanowi w opinii autorów ważny element działalności innowacyjnej, która powinna mieć wpływ na atrakcyjność i konkurencyjność każdego przedsiębiorstwa. Z tego względu głównym celem artykułu jest próba identyfikacji przyczyn powstania, zakresu działania i skutków wyodrębnionej działalności badawczo-rozwojowej przedsiębiorstwa działającego w branży ICT. Wyniki z przeprowadzonego badania dostarczają interesujących wniosków, po pierwsze główną przyczyną wyodrębnienia działu B+R był wymóg konkursu o dofinansowanie z UE, w innym przypadku ta działalność nie byłaby wydzielana w strukturze organizacyjnej, po drugie działalność działu B+R podnosi atrakcyjność przedsiębiorstwa z perspektywy rekrutacyjnej jako atrakcyjnego pracodawcy i perspektywy klientów, gdyż działalność B+R dostarczy im nowych wartości w postaci nowych/ulepszonych produktów/usług firmy. Z kolei w opinii zarządów SISMS Sp. z o.o. i ZPAS S.A. celem działalności B+R powinno być kreowanie nowych lub znacząco udoskonalonych produktów, procesów, które przedsiębiorstwom dostarczą nowych przychodów i podniosą ich konkurencyjność.

As a result of pilot studies, it was noted that most enterprises in the ICT industry in Lower Silesia do not have separate departments/companies responsible for research and development (76%). The authors decided to find the reasons for this state of affairs by selecting a pilot study on SISMS Sp. z o.o and ZPAS S.A. The issue of research and development (R&D) activities of ICT enterprises is, in the opinion of the authors, an important and current element of innovative activity, which should have an mpact on the attractiveness and competitiveness of each enterprise. For this reason, the main goal of the paper is to try to identify the reasons for the creation, scope of action and determine the consequences of the formally separated research and development activity of an enterprise operating in the ICT industry. The results from the conducted study provide interesting conclusions: firstly, the main reason for the separation of the R&D department was the requirement for a competition for EU funding, otherwise the activity would not be separated in the organizational structure; secondly, the R&D department’s activity increases the attractiveness of the company from the recruitment perspective as an attractive employer and clients perspective, because the R&D activity will provide them with new values in the form of new improved products/services of the company. In turn, in the opinion of the management board of SISMS Sp. zoo. and ZPAS S.A., the purpose of R&D activity should create new or significantly improved products that will provide the company with new revenues and increase its competitiveness.

The purpose of this article is to identify the management practices of the research and development project (R&D) in the field of e-services for residents, created by the IT company AMM Systems LTD – grantee of the RPOWD Programme 2014-2020, Measure 1.2.A. The article presents a preliminary pilot study, followed by an in-depth study among enterprises that have benefited from subsidies for the development of R&D activities. Manifold research questions were defined, i.e.: For what purpose did AMM undertake the development of research and development activities based on the selected research and development department? Were the products (i.e. e-services) carried out according to the plan? Do the developed e-services enhance the competitive advantage for AMM? The audited entity was AMM Systems LTD (formerly SISMS LTD). The subject of the research was the activity of the company and the activity of the R&D department implementing a R&D project co-financed by the EU.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest identyfikacja sposobu zarządzania projektem badawczo-rozwojowym (B+R) w obszarze e-usług dla mieszkańców, wytworzonych przez przedsiębiorstwo informatyczne AMM Systems Sp. z o.o. – grantobiorcę programu RPOWD 2014-2020, działanie 1.2.A. W artykule przedstawiono badanie wstępne o charakterze pilo- tażowym, po którym planuje się badanie pogłębione w przedsiębiorstwach, które skorzystały z dotacji na rozwój działalności B+R. Zdefiniowano pytania badawcze, m.in.: w jakim celu AMM podjął się rozwoju działalności badawczo-rozwojowej, opierając się na powołanym dziale badawczo-rozwojowym? Czy zaplanowane do wytworzenia produkty (e-usługi) zostały wykonane zgodnie z planem? Czy wytworzone e-usługi wykreowały przewagę konku- rencyjną dla przedsiębiorstwa AMM? Podmiotem badanym był AMM Systems sp. z o.o. (wcześniej SISMS sp. z o.o.). Przedmiotem badań zaś – działalność spółki oraz działalność działu badawczo-rozwojowego, realizującego projekt badawczo-rozwojowy współfinansowany z UE.
