W artykule podjęto temat dotyczący kreatywności jako kluczowej kompetencji na współczesnym rynku pracy, która w odpowiedni sposób wykorzystana może zapewnić przedsiębiorstwu względnie trwałą przewagę konkurencyjną. Celem opracowania była ocena poziomu opanowania tej kompetencji przez osoby tworzące zasób pracy w mieście Białystok. Dodatkowo podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie w jakim stopniu poziom ten uzależniony jest od czynników socjodemograficznych oraz miejsca zatrudnienia. Realizacji postawionego celu służyły badania własne przeprowadzone wśród 256 uczestników realizowanego na terenie miasta projektu, współfinansowanego ze środków Europejskiego Funduszu Społecznego w ramach Regionalnego Programu Operacyjnego Województwa Podlaskiego na lata 2014-2020 w ramach III osi priorytetowej: kompetencje i kwalifikacje. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań pozwoliły stwierdzić, że analizowana kompetencja jest istotna w kontekście działań zawodowych badanych osób. Zmienne socjodemograficzne w sposób niejednoznaczny determinują poziom jej opanowania. Uwzględniając natomiast kryterium miejsca zatrudnienia można stwierdzić, że najwyższym poziomem charakteryzują się osoby prowadzące własną działalność gospodarczą oraz pracujące w dużych przedsiębiorstwach.

The article concerned the subject of creativity as a crucial competence on the contemporary labour market, which can be used appropriately to provide a relatively long-lasting competitive edge for the enterprise. The aim of the development was an assessment of the level of control of this competence by persons creating the labour force in the city of Białystok. Additionally, an attempt to answer the question to what degree this level is dependent on socio-demographic factors and the place of employment was made. To achieve this, I conducted research amongst 256 participants of the project co-financed with the resources of the European Social Fund as part of the regional operational programme of the Podlasie Province for the years 2014-2020 in the frames of priority axis 3: competence and qualifications. Findings of conducted examinations allowed to state that the analysed competence is significant in the context of professional action of examined persons. The socio-demographic variable is inconclusive in determining the level of its mastering. In regards to the criterion of the place of employment it can be stated that persons conducting their own business activity and working in large enterprises are characterized by the highest level of aforementioned creativity.
