Istnieje wiele opracowań naukowych na temat dialogu z tradycyjnymi religiami afrykańskimi (TRA). Autor niniejszego artykułu analizuje nauczanie Magisterium afrykańskiego w tejże materii. Analiza wypowiedzi biskupów afrykańskich (szczególnie kongijskich) pozwoliła wyodrębnić dwa dominujące tematy: motywacja do dialogu z TRA oraz konieczność systematycznego studium tradycji afrykańskich. Nie wystarczy fakt uznania TRA za naturalny, religijno-kulturowy kontekst, w którym żyją Afrykanie. Konieczne jest dogłębnie poznanie tych religii i ich interpretacja w świetle Objawienia Bożego. W wypowiedziach hierarchów, temat dialogu z TRA występuje często w szerokiej refleksji teologicznej nt. inkulturacji (np. Mszał rzymski dla diecezji Zaïru). Biskupi jednoznacznie dowartościowują religie tradycyjne, które od początku humanizowały ludy Afryki – dawały i dają odpowiedzi na zasadnicze pytania dotyczące sensu ludzkiej egzystencji: życia i śmierci, pochodzenia i ostatecznego przeznaczenia człowieka. Namacalnym tego przykładem jest Instrukcja dla posługujących w ewangelizacji i katechezie opublikowana przez biskupów Konga (Kinszasa 2000).

There are many scientific studies on intercultural dialogue with Traditional African Religions (TAR). The author examines the teaching of the African Magisterium in that matter. The analysis of African bishops’ statements (especially those from Congo) allowed to distinguish two dominant themes: motivation for dialogue with the TAR and the need for a systematic study of African traditions. It is not enough to recognise the TAR as a natural, religious and cultural context in which the Africans live. It is necessary to thoroughly know these religions and their interpretation in the sight of Divine Revelation. In the statements of the hierarchy, the dialogue with the TAR is common in a wide theological reflection on inculturation (eg. Roman Missal for the dioceses of Zaire). The bishops clearly revalorise traditional religions, which from the beginning humanised the peoples of Africa – gave and give answers to fundamental questions about the meaning of human existence: life and death, the origin and the final destiny of man. The Instructions for Serving in Evangelisation and Catechesis published by the Bishops of Congo (Kinshasa 2000) – is a tangible example.

Przedmiotem refleksji jest inkulturacja sakramentu małżeństwa u ludu Jansi w Demokratycznej Republice Konga. Występujące tam problemy wynikają z faktu, że lud ten nie posiada scentralizowanej władzy i jednolitych praw dotyczących małżeństwa oraz organizacji rodzinnej. Najpierw dokonano analizy wspólnotowego i sakralnego charakteru małżeństwa oraz rodziny u Jansów, która została wkomponowana w tradycyjny proces zawierania małżeństwa, głęboko zakorzeniony w mentalności tego ludu. Analiza okresu narzeczeństwa i procesu przygotowawczego do rytualnego zawarcia małżeństwa wskazuje na trudności, wynikające z formalnego przestrzegania prawa „nadanego" przez przodków. Na uwagę zasługuje tu bogata symbolika i błogosławieństwa. Następnie przedstawiono chrześcijańską perspektywę małżeństwa i rodziny u Jansów. Zaproponowano inkulturacyjne propozycje pastoralne, uwzględniające tradycyjny oraz sakramentalny wymiar małżeństwa. Dla afrykańskich Kościołów lokalnych zagadnienie małżeństwa sakramentalnego jest kwestią pierwszoplanową.

The topic of the essay is the inculturation of the sacrament of marriage among the Jansi people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jansi have no central power structures or universally binding law concerning marriage and family. The author describes the communal and sacral character of marriage and family among the Jansi, deeply ingrained in the minds of the people. His research into the engagement periods and preparations to ritual marriage reveals difficulties in copying with the law passed down by the ancestors. Especially noteworthy in this connection are elaborate symbols and benedictions. Next, the author discusses the idea of marriage and family among the Jansi from the Christian perspective. He puts forward some pastoral suggestions for inculturation, taking into account traditional and sacramental dimensions of marriage. Sacramental marriage is of the outmost importance to the local churches in Africa.

For 10 years, Bishop Jerzy Mazur SVD held the responsible position of the Chairman of the Polish Episcopal Commission for Missions. The authors of the article consider his most important initiatives and achievements as Chairman of this Commission. The article is published in two parts. Part 1 begins with the presentation of the missionary profile of Bishop Jerzy Mazur. Then, the authors discuss his undertakings aimed at strengthening the mission structures and integrating the mission environment in the Church in Poland. They pay attention to mission animation and formation activities as well as mission cooperation with the Pontifical Mission Societies, religious congregations, diocesan mission groups, foundations, Catholic movements and associations supporting missions. Special place is given to the importance of material and spiritual support of missionaries and assistance for projects carried out in missions. In Part 2, the authors, among other items, present Bishop’s initiatives on mission outreach through media, both print and electronic ones. They also mention initiatives regarding the participatory involvement of laity in missionary service. Finally, they consider two most important events for the mission environment in Poland, namely, the 4th National Mission Congress, prepared and conducted by the Bishop, and the Extraordinary Mission Month.

W ciągu 10 lat posługi przewodniczącego Komisji Episkopatu Polski ds. Misji bp Jerzy Mazur SVD twórczo i aktywnie włączał się w animację i formację Kościoła w Polsce. Szczytem jego zaangażowania był IV Krajowy Kongres Misyjny w 2015 r., poprzedzony sympozjami misjologicznymi na UKSW w Warszawie, licznymi wystąpieniami w mediach oraz publikacjami propagującymi misje. W artykule prezentujemy syntezę nauczania bp. Jerzego Mazura na temat misji. Jest ono mocno osadzone na magisterium Soboru Watykańskiego II, charyzmacie Zgromadzenia oraz ostatnich papieży. Poczynając od trynitarnych źródeł misji, omawiamy tematy, które są bardzo często poruszane przez autora: powołanie misyjne, uczniowie-misjonarze, Maryja jako Misjonarka oraz formy zaangażowania misyjnego. Bp Jerzy Mazur aktywizował środowisko misyjne w Polsce poprzez organizowanie różnych wydarzeń o zasięgu ogólnopolskim a także publikacje skierowane do młodzieży i dorosłych.

During 10 years of his service as the chairman of the Polish Episcopal Commission for Missions, Bishop Jerzy Mazur SVD has creatively and actively involved in the animation and formation of the Church in Poland. The culmination of his involvement was the 4th National Missionary Congress in 2015, preceded by missiological symposia at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, numerous media appearances and publications promoting missions. In the article we present a synthesis of Bishop Jerzy Mazur’s teaching on the mission. It is firmly based on the magisterium of the Second Vatican Council, the charism of the Congregation (the SVDs) and the recent popes. Starting from the Trinitarian sources of mission we focus on topics that are very often discussed by the author: missionary vocation, missionary disciples, Mary as Missionary and forms of missionary involvement. Bishop Jerzy Mazur has activated the missionary community in Poland by organizing various nationwide events as well as publications addressed to young people and adults.
