Konstytucjonalizm to nurt intelektualny, który narodził się w epoce Oświecenia. Pierwsze pisane konstytucje dały podstawę dla jego ukształtowania. Wartość normatywna ustawy zasadniczej wynika z jej nadrzędności w systemie prawa. To konstytucja określa system ustrojowy, podział władzy oraz prawa podstawowe. Te ostatnie wyznaczają zasadnicze wartości, które przesądzają o zmianie paradygmatu prawa.

Constitutionalism is an intellectual trend that was born in the Age of Enlightenment. The first written constitutions are the basis for its formation. The normative value of the constitution results from its supremacy in the legal system. Constitution defines a system of government, separation of powers and fundamental rights. The latter one set fundamental values that determine the change of the legal paradigm.
