Niniejszy szkic ma na celu przeanalizowanie związków między reportażem literackim a literaturą. W nakreśleniu tych relacji istotne staje się zwrócenie uwagi zarówno na przemiany o charakterze diachronicznym, pokazujące, w jaki sposób na przestrzeni kolejnych stuleci reportaż oraz jego twórcy uniezależniali się od literatury, jak również na przemiany zachodzące w poetyce gatunku. Ponadto istotnym elementem nakreślonych analiz jest zwrócenie uwagi na autotematyczne wypowiedzi samych twórców (takich jak Melchior Wańkowicz, Hanna Krall oraz Ryszard Kapuściński), którzy, snując rozważania teoretyczne nad ramami gatunku, wielokrotnie dotykali zagadnień związanych z oddziaływaniem na siebie form dziennikarskich i artystycznych.

The present sketch is aimed at an analysis of the relations between a literary report and literature. In establishing those connections it is vital to pay attention both to the diachronic changes showing the way a report and its producers over a span of centuries became independent from literature, as well as to the changes in the genre’s poetics. A likewise important element of the analyses in question is a focus on the autothematic statements by the writers themselves (such as Melchior Wańkowicz, Hanna Krall, and Ryszard Kapuściński) who, reflecting on the frames of the genre, many a time touched the issues connected with journalistic and artistic forms interaction.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the role of visuality in contemporary literary reportage. In my analysis I focus on the book Długi film o miłości. Powrót na Broad Peak by Jacek Hugo-Bader, published in 2014. I present that this text can be read as an example of reportage which affects several senses, but it gives priority to image. I analyze the photograph published in the book as well as their descriptions created by the journalist.

W artykule omówiono książkę „Królestwo lęku” Huntera S. Thompsona i usytuowano ją w kontekście biografii reportera, głównych założeń dziennikarstwa gonzo oraz Nowego Dziennikarstwa. Jak pokazały przeprowadzone badania, „Królestwo lęku” jest nie tylko lekturą z kluczem autobiograficznym, ale także ważnym komentarzem do twórczości autora oraz głośnym manifestem politycznym. Ta wielotematyczność ma wyraźne odbicie w hybrydycznej strukturze książki, spójnie łączącej elementy publicystyki i literatury dokumentu osobistego. Przedstawione w szkicu ustalenia pozwalają stwierdzić, iż ze względu na zawarte w tym tomie liczne formy podmiotowej autoprezentacji i autokreacji, korespondujące z typowymi dla reportażu gonzo praktykami narracyjnymi, „Królestwo lęku” określić można mianem gonzo(auto)biografii.

The purpose of this article is to present a book “Kingdom of Fear” by Hunter S. Thompson in the context of reporter’s biography and the main features of gonzo journalism and New Journalism. The examination shows that “Kingdom of Fear” is not only a text with an autobiographical key, but also an important commentary on the author’s work, and a kind of political manifesto. This multi-thematic project is clearly reflected in a hybrid structure of the book which succinctly combines elements of journalism and personal document literature. Based on the considerations contained in the research, it can be concluded that due to the numerous forms of subjective self-presentation and autocreation, which correspond to the narrative practices typical of gonzo reportage, “Kingdom of Fear” can be described as a gonzo(auto)biography.

W epoce „gatunków zmąconych” obie formy silnie oddziałują na siebie, czego skutkiem jest powstawanie niezwykle popularnych współcześnie wśród czytelników reportaży biograficznych oraz biografii reportażowych. W tym kontekście omówiona zostanie książka Cezarego Łazarewicza pt. Koronkowa robota. Sprawa Gorgonowej, która łączy w sobie elementy poetyki reportażu z dyskursem biograficznym.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the relations between literary reportage and biography. In the era of “blurred genres” both forms strongly influence each other, which results nowadays in creation of very popular biographical reportages and journalistic biographies. In this context, it is worth discussing the book Koronkowa robota. Sprawa Gorgonowej by Cezary Łazarewicz, which combines the elements of reportage with biographical discourse.

Slow journalism, czyli reporterska szkoła uważności

Głównym celem niniejszego szkicu jest omówienie koncepcji slow journalism, która funkcjonuje obecnie jako swoista alternatywa dla przekazów medialnych opartych na szybkości i natychmiastowości przekazu. W pracy pokazano, że slow journalism jest nie tylko modą, ale także odpowiedzią na dominację tzw. fast news obecnych zwłaszcza w mediach elektronicznych. Wskazano, że slow journalism rozwija się zarówno w Polsce, jak i na świecie, przede wszystkim dzięki popularności reportażu i innych dłuższych form dziennikarskich (felieton, esej). Koncepcja ta wymaga szczególnej uważności zarówno reportera przygotowującego dany materiał, jak i czytelnika zainteresowanego dłuższymi formami dziennikarskimi.

The main purpose of this article is to discuss the concept of slow journalism, currently functioning as an alternative to media discourse based on the speed and immediacy of the news. Research shows that slow journalism is not only a trend, but also a real response to the dominance of the so-called ‘fast news’, mostly present in electronic media. It has been pointed out that slow journalism is developing in Poland as well as in the world mainly due to the popularity of reportage and other longer journalistic forms (column, essay). The concept requires special attention of both the reporter preparing the material and the reader interested in longer journalistic forms.
