Classical music is often associated only with solemnity and melancholy, similar features are associated with the composers of such a sort of music. Every day life of Chopin was not conducive to show a happiness, because of his nostalgia for homeland, sometimes of his being crossed in love and gradually of his physical sufferings connected with tuberculosis. His personal records' collection allows to find, however, that he was a person of a great sense of humour, disposed to making jokes. A young Chopin enjoyed to make language jokes: he was glad to use anagrams, to imitate pronunciation and sounds, to join for fun Polish and French words. He poked fun both at others and himself, he often trifled with his characteristic, long nose. After some years and experiences, Chopin started using irony, jeer and even cynicism. But it was never beyond a good taste. Social circles in Paris regarded Chopin as 'a soul of the party'. For close friends he presented not only musical, but also theatrical abilities. His favourite game was so-called 'living pictures', that he illustrated wittily by own music. Sophisticated humour made him popular with the women. We can find the greatest amount of his humorous remarks in letters written by him in Polish to friends. He poked fun at musicians of those days and critically commented people of various nationalities he met.

Opolski biskup pomocniczy Antoni Adamiuk blisko współpracował z siostrami szkolnymi de Notre Dame, które przed 2000 r. pracowały w kurii diecezji opolskiej i Wydawnictwie św. Krzyża. W pamięci sióstr bp Adamiuk to wzorowy kapłan, znakomity katecheta i odważny kaznodzieja, dobry, skromny i prosty człowiek, strażnik pamięci polskich Kresów Wschodnich oraz obrońca prawdy i sprawiedliwości (związku zawodowego „Solidarność”). W ramach pomocy opozycji antykomunistycznej u boku biskupa działała s. Angela Orłowska SSND. Siostry mogły liczyć na pomoc biskupa w trudnych latach Polski komunistycznej. Organizował wtedy kursy katechetyczne, przygotowujące siostry szkolne do pracy z dziećmi i młodzieżą.

Bishop Antoni Adamiuk worked closely together with the School Sisters de Notre Dame who, before 2000, worked in the diocesan Curia in Opole and in the Holy Cross Publishing House. Bishop Adamiuk is remembered by the sisters as an exemplary priest, an excellent catechist and a courageous preacher, a good, modest and upright man, a guardian of memories about the Polish eastern frontier, and a defender of truth and justice (of the trade union “Solidarity”). Within the framework of providing help to the anticommunistic opposition, Sister Angela Orłowska SSND, acted at the side of the Bishop. The sisters could count on the Bishop’s help in the difficult years of communism in Poland. At that time he organized catechetical courses, preparing the School Sisters to work with children and youth. He taught the sisters not only how to conduct classes in religion, but also in the history of Poland. To them he was an example of a patriot. In the opinion of all sisters, Bishop Adamiuk was a “warm, good father”, always kind-hearted towards the Congregation of the School Sisters de Notre Dame. Due to a meager autobiographical legacy, left after that auxiliary bishop of Opole, the sisters’ reminiscences are an important historical source for his curriculum vitae.
