The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that surrounds us from every angle. It is used in many areas of life. It seems to make our life easier, but also raises concerns, especially in the area of privacy. The article presents the results of research on the awareness of respondents regarding the existence of the Internet of Things and the willingness and the need to use devices and solutions based on this technology.

According to data from the Central Statistical Office of the LFS (Labor Force Survey) 2015, among disabled people of working age, only 17% of people are economically active (85% work and 15% are unemployed), and 83% of people remain economically inactive. This situation was an impulse to carry out research to check what the occupational situation of disabled people with multiple sclerosis is. One of the analyzed issues was the use of the Internet by people with MS for professional needs, including e-work delivery. The article presents a report from the conducted research. The research was carried out in Poland in 2015–2016.

Popularność mediów społecznościowych stwarza zupełnie nowe możliwości dla realizacji i utrzymywania kontaktów społecznych. W artykule opisano wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w Polsce w latach 2015–2016, dotyczących funkcjonowania społecznego przy wykorzystaniu Internetu przez osoby niepełnosprawne, chore na stwardnienie rozsiane. Przeprowadzone badania dają obraz deficytów w obszarze relacji społecznych osób o ograniczonej sprawności fizycznej oraz wskazują na czynniki, które mogą zwiększać poziom adopcji nowoczesnych technologii wśród tej grupy. Pełniejsze wykorzystanie możliwości tworzonych przez technologię społecznościową może w sposób bezpośredni kontrybuować do podwyższenia komfortu życia osób niepełnosprawnych, zarówno w obszarze życia prywatnego, jak i zawodowego.

The popularity of social media creates completely new opportunities for establishing social relations. The article describes the results of research carried out in Poland in 2015– –2016 regarding the use of the Internet by disabled people with multiple sclerosis. The research presents limitations in social relations of people with limited mobility and indicates factors that may increase the level of absorption of modern technologies in this group. Fuller use of the opportunities created by social media can improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, both in the area of private and professional life.
