In the paper the Grounded Theory and its application to management research is discussed. First, the issue of knowledge creating in management science is presented. Next, the scientific approach for creating and confirming theory is presented based on induction and abduction as a proper direction of problem solving in management. As the result the qualitative methods are preferred and on this background methodology of the Grounded Theory is described, with its critics and prerequisites of applying to management research

Next, the evolution of changes in agile methodology is presented, starting from craftsman works to contemporary understanding of these systems. The adaptability of portfolio analysis to non-governmental organizations is the purpose of the paper. The criteria of strategic business units evaluation used in portfolio analysis of companies is presented in the first part of the article. The specificity of strategic management in non-governmental organizations is shown in the next part of the article. The tools helpful in the process of strategy formulation are described next. The matrix of portfolio analysis created by R. Gruber and M. Mohr is described in this part. The opportunities and limits of portfolio analysis applications in non-governmental organizations are presented at the end of the paper.

The importance of the management adaptiveness considering modern conceptions and methods of management has been characterized. The aim of this paper is to present one of newest team oriented problem solving method – PDCA Problem Solving. The author introduces the origin and essence of the method. He also describes the various stages involved In PDCA Problem Solving and presents examples of auxiliary methods and techniques. The last section of the paper is an attempt at evaluating the application PDCA Problem Solving as a method of continuous improvement.

The article is a trial of identification of the factors determining ineffectiveness and waste in the public sector. The factors are presented considering detailed and general aspects. The main attention is focused on detailed aspects presenting the conditions on the level of particular entities. The potential grounds of waste have been described such as: waste due to human, process, information, property, managerial reason. For each ground different kinds of waste have been presented. The importance of the presented factors for the studies on the effectiveness of the public sector has been discussed in the summary. The article is a part of wider studies performed by the author regarding the effectiveness of the public sector.

This paper presents the key issues and characteristics which determine the separation corporate entrepreneurship within the public sector in the terms of socially responsible attitudes. At the beginning the key characteristics of entrepreneurship in the public sector and specific circumstances of entrepreneurial activities have been presented. In the main part of the article the model of the typical attitude of socially responsible entrepreneurs has been shown. The final part of the paper produces priority areas of implementing the concept of CSR and benefits and risk concerning development of entrepreneurship in the public sector.

In the main part of the article the foundations and steps of Prove and Improve method are characterized.

Paper presents key aspects of maintenance management in modern enterprises. Firstly, there has been produced the evolution of the approaches into maintenance management, and on that basis the methodic of TPM implementation, as most current solutions in terms of maintenance management. There has been also presented basic elements of this system as well as model of its utilizing within a company together with the OFE, i.e. the ratio of TPM evaluation. Final part of the paper lists the advantages of TPM and determinants which influence the current and further conditions of maintenance management systems.
