Recently, there has been devoted much place to small local shops. Small local groceries are an integral part of the Polish economy and the Polish retail trade. Experts on the subject matter beat the alarm that their number is decreasing from one year to another what might indicate the accumulated difficulties in the conditions of their functioning and development. The subject matter of small shops has won its place in the social actions “Here I live and here I buy” undertaken by Makro Cash and Carry. The objective of the article is to present the situation of retail trade in Poland against the background of EU countries and results of the survey carried out in February 2011 commissioned by Makro Cash and Carry Polska SA among 68 owners of small local shops located in 4 quarters of Warsaw, 4 “adjacent” towns and 4 satellite towns.

В последнее время много места отводится мелким микрорайонным магазинам. Мелкие микрорайонные продовольственные магазины – неотъемлемый элемент польской экономики и розничной торговли. Знатоки проблематики бьют тревогу, что их число с каждым годом уменьшается, что могло бы указывать на множащи- еся трудности в условиях их функционирования и развития. Проблематика мелких магазинов нашла свое отражение в общественной акции «Здесь я живу, здесь покупаю», предпринятой компанией Makro Cash and Carry. Цель статьи – представление ситуации розничной торговли в Польше на фоне стран-членов ЕС и результатов исследования, проведенного в феврале 2011 г. по заказу Makro Cash and Carry Polska SA среди 68 собственников мелких микрорайонных магазинов, находящихся на территории 4 кварталов Варшавы, 4 «примыкающих» городов и 4 городов-сателлитов.
