The article presents grammatical errors in case government of Polish verbs made by Ukrainian-speaking students learning Polish as a foreign language. As syntax errors among this group of learners are mainly transfer errors, whereas rection errors are predominantly interference errors, the focus of this article is the errors in objects, which occurred due to the primary language system of the students. A vast variety of the excerpted errors indicates that word combinations are eagerly and easily copied by the students. Therefore, this question requires work on the analysis of similarities and differences in objects in Polish and Ukrainian (Russian), doing didactic translations and analytical work on one’s own errors and their source.

In the article the results of survey research on the assessment of errors made in Polish by Ukrainians and Poles, as stated by Ukrainian students learning Polish as a foreign language, are shown. This research was a part of twofold research in which students from Poland participated as well, assessing the character and importance of linguistic errors made by foreigners and native speakers of Polish. At first. the results were shown by means of traditionally counting up the number of particular responses. Nonetheless, the information about how much and what kind of additional data could be gained thanks to elements of statistical analysis of data conducted on the same survey is shown in this paper. The results may convince one that statistical analysis of pilot or exploratory nature is worth conducting even with a small research sample, as it allows for highlighting particular problems which should be taken into account while preparing research tools for proper research.

This paper presents part of a statistical analysis (SPSS) of the Polish-Ukrainian interlanguage which is currently being conducted. The presented part of the research pertains to the most difficult forms from the morphological level of the Polish language for speakers of Ukrainian who learn Polish as a foreign language, regardless of their declared level of language proficiency (A1+ ‒ B2+). The analyses presented in the article are of a qualitative nature. The questionnaire for the research into the interlanguage contained both correct and wrong forms (i.e. interferential forms extracted from the previous author’s corpus-based error analyses) – the respondent had to decide which form was correct. Therefore, the study concerns language intuition. The results of the research are convergent with the analyses of actual errors made by Ukrainians in their written assignments, which constitutes a motivation for further statistical analyses of the interlanguage with the use of the same research tool.
