Ilya Kormiltsev (d. 2007 at the age of 47) connected his professional life most of all with poetry and translation. He was a translator of modern English and Italian literature, while his literary career was connected with rock culture. In the 80s of the 20th century the poet cooperated with the popular rock group ‘Nautilus Pompilius'. Published in 2007 Poets of Russian Rock included only 19 texts of Kormiltsev, though he was the author of 50 songs of the rock group, not taking into consideration other texts that can be found on a website http:www.nautilus.ru. Kormiltsev's artistic works are called the poetry of dispelled hopes, in which the definition of an ideal is a fiction or belongs to unattainable categories. Tragic significance of the poet's works is strictly connected with elements of kitsch of the present-day-reality. The author compares an individual with supernatural, pointing out his/her egoism and total inability to draw conclusions from the past. What is more, Ilya Kormiltsev works are distinguished by the richness of means of expression, among which the crucial seemed to be symbol and metaphor. The author joins motifs of eternity and the Bible, life and commonness, in whiche symbols presented tend to be different from the traditionally understood ones.
