The paper discusses the concept of an intermediate position of culture in relation to modern Belarus and Russia. In Russia, an intermediate position means being between Europe and Asia, in Belarus – between Europe and Russia. Modern Russia seeks to regain the status of a great power, and sees itself as a special culture, different from European and Asian. The cultural space of Belarus is determined by the need for its development as an independent state. It seeks to establish relations with neighboring states and to become involved in the world cultural processes.

В статье рассматривается концепция промежуточного положения культуры применительно к современной Беларуси и России. В России промежуточное положение означает нахождение между Европой и Азией, в Беларуси – между Европой и Россией. Современная Россия стремится вернуть себе статус великой державы. Она рассматривает себя как особую культуру, отличную от европейской и азиатской. Культурное пространство Беларуси определяется необходимостью ее развития как самостоятельного государства. Она стремится наладить отношения с соседними государствами и включиться в мировые культурные процессы.
