Media aesthetic environment of image formation

100%
EN
This paper is devoted to the “nature of image” in the new media environment. The author re-conceptualizes the image as a basis of textual, visual and audial culture. Two factors of this revision are explained: (1) the facilitation of the complex creation and consumption of communicative unities, or artifacts (complexes of video, audio, texts and other forms), (2) the ability to capture a massive interest for new forms of imagery in social networks and the internet (a research evidence of this interest). The theory of the image, presented in the writings of Jean-Luc Nancy, is applied to the actual facts of communicative exchange allowing to identify some new directions for the development of media aesthetic phenomena. The main empirical material of the article is the growing mass interest in video and audio clips, such as #oddlysatisfying and ASMR. The author uses this material to confirm Nancy’s idea on the concentration of image formation in an “invisible” zone (beyond the representation of the object itself: the image is interlined, it is between sounds, it is behind pictures).

The study aims to present creative strategies of several audio performances created between the years 2019 and 2022 in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the author seeks to describe the audio performances on the basis of her own spectatorial experience and to explore their effect on the viewer from the perspective of Cognitive Science and Psychology. The author first introduces the phenomenon of audio performance and demonstrates that audio strategies based on the predisposition of the auditory system offer strong suggestion and emotionality. She outlines three strategies: (1) stimulation through ASMR using the tactile quality of hearing; (2) focusing one's attention on one's own body through the inner observer and focusing techniques; and (3) expanding consciousness through perspective shifting. In all three of these, she finds a significant relaxing effect with therapeutic potential, as well as an educational function regarding perception which targets an experience of a specific generation. Evocation of one's own experience, which the author seeks to defend within the theatrical field, plays an important role in the text.

Detekuje postupně tři strategie: 1. stimulace prostřednictvím ASMR s využitím hmatové kvality sluchu, 2. zaměření pozornosti na vlastní tělo prostřednictvím technik vnitřního pozorovatele a focusingu, 3. rozšíření vědomí prostřednictvím proměny perspektivy.

The article presents the concept of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) from a general and a linguistic perspective. The definition of the notion and a review on the state of research is followed by a classification of ASMR triggers based on the senses which constitute the source of experiencing the ASMR effect. The author argues that touch and smell be included in the classification of the triggers. The linguistic analysis focuses on the following issues: the phonetic properties of the voice triggers, onomastics – a grammatical and conceptual study of the 17 classes of medionyms (names of ASMR channels) which were distinguished in the present research, and the ASMR discourse as the space where phatic and social functions are carried out on the part of ASMRtists as factors developing bonds within the ASMR community and where evaluative and persuasive functions are prominent in the comments of the recipients.

Artykuł prezentuje zjawisko ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, tłum. pol. samoistna odpowiedź meridianow czuciowych) z perspektywy ogólnej i lingwistycznej.
