Art schools in the Second Republic of Poland were subject to the Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Enlightenment. The first mention of public secondary art schools appeared in 1922. In the following years, decrees and ordinances were issued, which primarily regulated the principles of operation and education in state and public secondary schools in Lvov, Krakow, Warsaw, Poznań and Bydgoszcz. Apart from state schools there were also several private secondary schools in Poland, whose level of education matched that of state schools. The article attempts to establish which art schools functioned in Poland, how many there were, and what legal standardization they were subjected to.

Szkoły artystyczne w II Rzeczypospolitej podlegały Ministerstwu Wyznań Religijnych i Oświecenia Publicznego. Pierwsze wzmianki o publicznych średnich szkołach plastycznych pojawiły się w 1922 roku. W kolejnych latach wydawano rozporządzenia i zarządzenia, które regulowały przede wszystkich zasady funkcjonowania i kierunki kształcenia w średnich szkołach państwowych i publicznych we Lwowie, w Krakowie, Warszawie, Poznaniu i Bydgoszczy. Oprócz szkół państwowych w Polsce funkcjonowało kilkanaście szkół prywatnych średniego szczebla, których poziom kształcenia dorównywał szkołom państwowym. W artykule podjęta została próba ustalenia, jakie szkoły plastyczne funkcjonowały w Polsce, ile ich było, jakim normalizacjom prawnym były poddawane.
