The Association of Ecclesiastical Archivists [hereinafter SAK] was erected by the Polish Episcopal Conference by a decree of 1 December 2003, in accordance with canon 312 paragraph l point 2 of the Code of Canon Law. The aims of the Association are: 1. Sharing knowledge about ecclesiastical archives and the legal basis for dealing with documents; 2. Improving the professional qualifications of archivists and improving their general knowledge; 3. Representing the community of ecclesiastical archivists in relations with the state archival service; 4. Integration of the community of ecclesiastical archivists; 5. Taking care for a high level of ethics and building trust and public respect for this profession and archival matters. Since its erection until now, the Association has consistently fulfilled all its objectives and tasks. Major events include various meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops. The association runs scientific classes and practical courses. It patronizes various archival projects. The association cooperates with archives in Poland and abroad. In 2017, the newsletter “Archiva Ecclesiastica” was transformed into an annual, published in a revised graphic design, which gave it a scientific character. Since the Association was founded until 2018, 11 issues were published.
