The article contains information about people's notions about angels and the role they play in human life. Starting from the presentation of the heavenly forces hierarchy by Pseudo-Dionysius, the authors focus their attention on how people pictured angels as God's emissaries. Much space is devoted to contemporary relations, confirming the presence of the angels on earth also today. The texts of folk songs are also analysed, in which the angels accompany not only people, but also the Mother of God and the saints. Folk images of angels and the angel's features are also represented by the idiomatic expressions and anthroponyms, both secular and religious.

The paper summarises today’s traditions and ritual practices concerning child birth and newborns observed by contemporary Bulgarian families. The research material consists of posts on popular Bulgarian internet forums and is interpreted in the light of traditional folklore customs. Results reveal a dynamic but highly selective approach towards old rituals and beliefs, most often leading to the preservance of various formal features and the loss of original magical or religious contents.

W artykule poddano analizie współczesne tradycje i zwyczaje związane  z narodzinami dziecka oraz z okresem niemowlęcym, które praktykowane są przez młode bułgarskie rodziny w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu. Materiał badawczy wyekscerpowano z popularnych bułgarskich forów internetowych. Metoda badawcza zastosowana w artykule polega na zestawieniu  praktyk współczesnych z tradycyjnymi zwyczajami ludowymi. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy można stwierdzić, że przedmiot badań podlega dynamicznym transformacjom. Zaobserwowano, że dominuje selektywne podejście do dawnych wierzeń i rytuałów, co przejawia się tym, że zachowane są pewne cechy formalne praktyk, natomiast  ich pierwotne znaczenie magiczne lub religijne zostało utracone.
