The paper presents a comprehensive evaluation of the still largely unattended activities from the La Tène period at the major polycultural site in Mikulovice, Pardubice distr., Czech Republic. The site is known mainly for rich findings of grave gifts from the Early Bronze Age and also for its extensive settlement activities in HA2 – LTA. Thanks to the rescue excavations prior to the construction of residential houses in recent decades, the situation and artefacts of the course of LTB – D1 have been captured. The main axis of the paper is the analysis and evaluation of the finding of the solitary La Tène inhumation grave. On this basis, it addresses the issues of possible links and contacts between the eastern Bohemian region and the Moravian area. The topic of settlement activities in Mikulovice during the younger period of the Iron Age is further addressed by analysing the pottery and evaluating several captured residential situations.

The present paper is an attempt at analytical presentation of selected elements of an evangelical foundation that John Paul II shapes to be the basis of revival activities of “the countenance of earth” towards civilization of love. In his teaching and activities, John Paul II refers to universal brotherhood of all people and to love for every single human being. People should earnestly strive for fourfold primacy in the orientation of the human spirit, that is for the primacy of a person over a thing, ethics over technology, “be more” over “have more”, and mercifulness over justice. Such primacy determines the directions for the building of civilisation of love, which protects the fundamental good, which is human life. Elementary respect for life thus constitutes the most essential condition for building civilisation of love. The paper aims to uncover again and revitalize the timeliness of the message.

The momentous changes which began at the end of the previous century in many world countries (notably in the so-called former socialist bloc states) are definitely far from complete. There is no doubt that the process is still ongoing. And, what is more important, no one can even approximately predict when it will come to an end. Because of its exceptional complexity, systemic transformation should be regarded as a long-term process which spans generations. Therefore, the term ‘continuation' is frequently used in reference to this phenomenon. The present study discusses the most significant (at least according to the author) issues and problems of systemic transformation. The author also puts forward specific suggestions for directions of further economic and interdisciplinary research into the field
