The article offers an update on the most important company information and directory databases that have been monitored and surveyed by the Hungarian Association of Content Industry since 1996. Two previous studies in the 'Scientific and Technical Information - the Hungarian journal of library and information science' dealt with this topic before, one in in vol. 44, No. 3, 1997, and the other one in vol. 47, No. 8, 2000. Readers can note the changes that have happened over this period. A few databases ceased, new products were launched and those who have survived since the beginning have been subject to significant development. The report on the survey contains comparative tables of the most important data collected in the databases. The study provides practical guidance in the field of company information and directory databases and services

In the age of global information economy, with the development of market economy in Hungary and in the context of the EU membership, the training in business information has become a necessary and essential part of the graduate LIS training programme. The study focuses on the curricula of schools of library and information studies, both in Hungary and in the international practice. The author presents his own teaching experiences at the Faculty of Library and Information Science of the Eötvös Loránd University. The study provides a short historical overview, describes the current situation and presents a few practical initiatives. However, one question still remains open: how the current training curriculum will change as a result of the reforms in compliance with the Bologna process and with joining the European Higher Education Area.

The need for the knowledge society-oriented development of the Hungarian library network cannot be questioned. Business information services should be an integral part of library service provision, and the present study aims to raise more awareness around this area. After a short historical overview and a complex analysis of the situation at Hungarian libraries, the author makes recommendations for further research of the subject and defines the most important actions to be taken towards an effective solution.
