The article presents social benefits and costs connected with the realization of public investment while applying negotiating and arbitrary solutions, such as special purpose act. In the first part of the article, the Authors discuss social attitude to realization of the above mentioned investments and their determinants. The second part contains extensive, and based on the results of empirical studies, analysis of benefits and dangers connected with application of special purpose acts, as well as integrative and negotiating solutions. The Authors reach the conclusion that according to effective problem solving methods, negotiating solutions are worth recommending. Taking into account the high socio-economic costs, special purpose act- solutions ought to be used incidentally towards opponents and irrational individuals, who work against the investment, after utilizing all negotiation possibilities.

The search for shale gas in Poland raises hope for improvement in Poland’s energy situation. However, it also causes conflicts, especially with the inhabitants of the areas where the gas deposits are to be exploited, who are afraid living conditions will deteriorate. Various ways of expressing protest and resolving conflicts are looked for. However, it seems that spatial planning is the ground where such conflicts may be resolved in the simplest way and at the same time the most effectively, because shale gas extraction activities have to be in complian-ce with the planning documents of communes. Therefore, the possibility of gas extraction and the extraction area are dependant on the decision of the commune local authorities, represen-ting the best interests of inhabitants. Besides, the way the local planning documents are drawn up gives inhabitants numerous opportunities to formulate and enforce the fulfilment of their expectations. Financial compensation for the persons whose real property has declined in market or use value as a result of the approval of the local plan is also a part of the planning system. Therefore spatial planning allows the interests of various parties to be balanced and, in consequence, reduction of the number and scale of the conflicts over shale gas extraction.

The following study examines the human aspects of organizational growth. An increase in a company's headcount brings an affect to the individual on almost all aspects of the company's operation as the expansion changes the organizational structure. This change has an affect on the communication, the personal relationships, the employee satisfaction and the distribution of the workload. The changes have both positive and negative consequences for the individual. A preliminary study had been carried out in order to examine the differences between the employee's attitude towards smaller and larger scale companies where they work. Also it was a subject of the study to determine what the advantages and disadvantages of working at smaller and larger companies are. Based on the results gained from the preliminary study another research had been completed. The aim of the second research was to identify the affect of the organizational growth on the individual. The assumption of the study was that the organizational growth is rather a negative experience for the individual. The results gained were in line with the assumption despite of the fact that the advantages of larger companies had also appeared during the process of change. Taken into consideration that the organizational growth is an economically positive process and the fact that the individuals tend to equally choose to work at small and big companies such a negative attitude towards changes brought by the expansion is not reasonable. Based on the researches one can conclude that the negative attitude is a result of two factors: negative tendencies in personal relationships and resistance of employees against organizational change.

Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro is an Indian community situated in the Purhépecha Indians region in the State of Michoacán in Mexico. In the 1980s a forest company was established there. Its structure was based on a traditional community organization on one hand and on the model of modern enterprise on the other. The company is now supported by the Mexican Government and by international organizations It is economically successful and has improved living standards of community members. It is recognized as a international model of community enterprise. However the social reality does not fit the ideal model. Conflicts, corruption, lack of democracy are the negative part of the phenomenon, which is not publicly discussed. The profits from the company are available only to a small group of people, which does not permit equal development.

This study describes the experiences of an interview-based research. It aims to reveal the different types of conflicts occurring in vendor–debtor relationships and the different solutions to such conflicts. We did not target to draw a representative picture, we only wanted to explore the different types existing. First of all, we wanted to answer, in general, the following question: Are there any market relationships in the Hungarian economy that enable the use of the methods of constructive conflict handling, i.e. What kind of relationships do exist between the size and form of the interdependence and the solutions given to the different conflicts? The main conclusion of our research was that there are cooperation forms and interdependence situations in the Hungarian vendor-debtor relationships whereby in case of conflicts the parties are motivated to achieve a resolution, therefore applying the alternative methods in the vertical market relationships could work as an efficient and constructive method.

The article deals with Ricoeurʼs idea of how we use reason in our praxis, i.e. with what in Kantian vocabulary is referred to as practical reason and in Aristotelian terminology as practical wisdom (phronesis). The question is whether this mode of reason, as incommensurable with the rigorous theoretical reason as it is, can be taken as valid. Can Ricoeurʼs approach, trying to reconcile the two incompatible conceptions mentioned above, be of help in resolving this question? Here we have to test the arguments in support of two Ricoeur’s ideas: 1) Practical reason is to be preserved as a specific mode of reason, which is irreducible to any other one. 2) The role of practical reason is not implemented by keeping its distance from practical experience (as demanded by Kant), but rather by being a prudent moral judgement in a particular situation. This, however, does not mean disregarding the morality of duty.

The author deals with organizational power structure. Research on organizational behaviour mainly tends to focus on companies and bureaucracy; other types of organizations get much less attention. One of the neglected topics is the sociology of organizations, which deals with the main differences in the organizational power structure of different kinds of organizations. For example: power structure of companies, bureaucracies for clients, and political bureaucracies, different sorts of supervisory authorities, hospitals, police departments, courts, prisons, prosecutor's offices, schools, etc. The previous article of the author ('Irresponsible organizations') dealt with special types of organizations and their power structures. This study analyses another type of organization - hospitals - and its specialities of power structure and power games. To understand their different power structures helps better understand how they function and behave and also their role in the inter-organizational power-networks and plays..
