Artykuł przybliża postać ks. Stefana Łysika SVD (1908-1978) etnologa i lingwisty. Otrzymawszy solidną formację zakonno-misyjną (1926--1936) w Zgromadzeniu Słowa Bożego (Rybnik, Górna Grupa, Sankt Gabriel), ks. Łysik odegrał w okresie PRL istotną rolę w odbudowie Polskiej Prowincji SVD. Jako administrator dóbr kościelnych, duszpasterz, wykładowca oraz prekursor badań etnologiczno-lingwistycznych Opolskiego i Dolnego Śląska oraz Ziemi Lubuskiej naznaczył swym entuzjazmem diecezjalne i zakonne struktury Kościoła w Polsce. Szczególną uwagę poświęcił badaniom dawnego hutnictwa żelaza oraz gwary śląskiej i zwyczajów ludowych w rodzinnej miejscowości Boruszowiec-Hanusek (pow. Tarnowskie Góry). Należał do Polskiego Towarzystwa Ludoznawczego, współpracował z Polskim Atlasem Etnograficznym oraz Małym Atlasem Gwar Polskich. Zwieńczeniem działalności naukowej ks. Stefana Łysika SVD były przyznane mu w 1974 roku przez Ministerstwo Kultury i Sztuki oraz Prezydium Wojewódzkiej Rady Narodowej w Katowicach wysokie odznaczenia państwowe.

The article introduces Fr. Stefan Łysik SVD (1908-1978), an ethnologist and linguist. Having received a solid religious and missionary formation (1926-1936) in the Society of the Divine Word (Rybnik, Górna Grupa, Sankt Gabriel), Łysik played an important role in the rebuilding of the Polish SVD Province during the “People’s Republic of Poland” period. As an administrator of church property, a priest, lecturer and a pioneer of ethnological and linguistic research in Opole Silesia, Lower Silesia and the Lubuskie Region, he marked the diocesan and monastic structures of the Church in Poland with his enthusiasm. He devoted particular attention to the research of the old iron metallurgy, Silesian dialect and folk customs in his home town of Boruszowiec-Hanusek (Tarnowskie Góry district). He belonged to the Polish Ethnological Society, collaborated with the Polish Ethnographic Atlas and the Small Atlas of Polish Dialects. The culmination of the scientific activity of Fr. Stefan Łysik SVD were high state decorations awarded to him in 1974 by the Ministry of Culture and Art and the Presidium of the Voivodeship National Council in Katowice.
