The local identity of industrial regions of Ukraine: Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk. An Outline (Summary)The article studies the coming into existence and development of regional identities in the two most industrialized regions of Ukraine: Donbas and Dnepropetrovsk. Territorial identity is analyzed using the following criteria: basic confl icts regarding outlook, the establishment and development of regional elites, political, ethnic, cultural and socio-economic factors, attitude to the centre of the state. Identities are discussed as the key components of the postmodernistic ideology of the Ukrainian political elite.

The aim of this article is to classify the armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia in light of international law. Firstly, the Russian armed activities are qualified through the lens of use of force and it is shown that Russia committed an aggression. Secondly, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is qualified according to the law of armed conflict, not only identifying the applicable norms of law of armed conflict but examining whether atrocities have been committed and whether they are war crimes or mere crimes or acts of terror. The article posits that there is an international armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine and in addition a non-international one between Ukrainian insurgents and governmental forces. The methodology used in the article is legal analysis of documents and international law doctrine.

Польские научные публикации о конфликте на востоке Украины редко описывают положение религиозных меньшинств в так называемых Донецкой и Луганской Народных Республиках. Они уделяют больше внимания политическим, экономическим и военным аспектам конфликта. Автор решил проверить гипотезу о том, что конфликт на востоке Украины является политическим, а не религиозным, и поэтому сформулировал два исследовательских вопроса. Первый звучит: какие формы приобрело преследование христиан веры евангельской и в какой степени оно повлияло на их деятельность? Второй вопрос: каковы были причины преследований христиан веры евангельской? Предлагаемый текст состоит из трех частей и выводов. В первой части представлена общая характеристика христиан веры евангельской востока Украины. Далее описаны случаи преследования этой религиозной группы в 2014–2019 гг. В третьей части исследуются факторы, определяющие положение христиан веры евангельской в Донецкой Народной Республике и Луганской Народной Республике. Последний фрагмент статьи содержит выводы. Размышления подготовлены на основе тщательно проверенных материалов на английском, украинском и польском языках. Многие использованные публикации можно найти на сайтах международных организаций, аналитических центров и научных учреждений. Автор применил для анализа качественный подход, обращаясь и к социологическому анализу конфликта, с учетом политических и религиозных исследований.

Polish scientific publications regarding the conflict in Eastern Ukraine rarely describe the situation of religious minorities in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. They are more focused on its political, economic and military aspects. The author decided to verify the hypothesis that the conflict in eastern Ukraine has only political background, not religious, and, therefore, he has formulated the two research questions. First: what forms did the persecutions of Evangelical Christians take, and how did it affect the activities of these Christians? Second: what were the reasons for the persecutions of the Evangelical Christians? The text consists of three parts and conclusions. The first part provides general information about Evangelical Christians in eastern Ukraine. The cases of persecution of this group between 2014 and 2019 are further described. The third part examines the factors determining the position of evangelical Christians in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic. The last part of the article contains conclusions. The deliberations were prepared on the basis of carefully verified materials in English, Ukrainian and Polish. Many publications were downloaded from the websites of various international organizations, think tanks and research institutions. The author used a qualitative approach and referred to the sociological analysis of the conflict, taking into account political and religious studies.

This article presents the creation of the borders of Ukraine. Which has not been fully described in history. There are several theories about the arrival of the population in the areas of today's Ukraine, and researchers of historical sources are constantly discussing, wondering which of them is the closest to the truth. While creating this article, we consulted sources constituting not only the creation of the Ukrainian State, but also describing the lives of people of particular nationalities and ethnic minorities living in the areas of today's Ukraine. The Great Famine, the Volhynian Massacre or the Second World War are just a few of the main topics that have been raised. During the analysis of the materials for this work of this work, the greatest attention was focused on the aspect of the civilian census during World War II, which was not described in a clear way, but rather "distorted" by the results of population changes caused by World War II.

W artykule przestawiono tworzenie granic Ukrainy, które nie do końca zostało opisane. Teorii o przybyciu ludności na tereny dzisiejszej Ukrainy jest kilka, a badacze historycznych źródeł cały czas prowadzą dyskusję, zastanawiając się, która z nich jest najbliższa prawdy. Tworząc ten artykuł, sięgnęliśmy do źródeł stanowiących nie tylko o utworzeniu państwa ukraińskiego, ale także opisujących życie ludzi poszczególnych narodowości i mniejszości etnicznych mieszkających na terenach dzisiejszej Ukrainy. Wielki Głód, rzeź wołyńska czy II wojna światowa to tylko kilka głównych tematów, które zostały poruszone. Podczas analizy materiałów do tej pracy, największą uwagę skupił aspekt spisu ludności cywilnej podczas II wojny światowej, który nie został opisany w klarowny sposób, a raczej „przekłamany” w wyniku zmian populacji spowodowanych przez II wojnę światową.
