The free time (leisure) phenomenon is an increasingly inspiring theme in anthropological discourse, especially in the so-called anthropology of everyday life. First of all, free time fills media content, creating a new „culture of needs“ represented, mostly, through consumeristic (materialistic) values, since consumption is embedded in everyday patterns of behavior and is in constant interaction with technology and new types of media. And our identity, through the mentioned spheres, is „defined“ first within the (daily) free time. It is shaped by rest, fun, creative processes, but also leisure, consumption. In the postmodern era, Z. Lipovetsky observes, and „a kind of democratization of hedonism“, in the sense that new spaces are opened without prior exclusivity, and the boundaries between styles, purposes, values become relative, in everyday life both in the sphere of art, in the economy, politics, etc. Thus, the usual daily dynamics, as a kind of practical policy, becomes an anthropological interest, especially through cultural studies, which emphasize topics from the popular, media and consumer culture, at the local and global level, maintaining an active attitude towards reality.

W rozwijającym się świecie coraz większą uwagę zwraca się na czas wolny, z wyodrębnieniem czasu wolnego osób niepełnosprawnych. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest identyfikacja form czasu wolnego i możliwości ich wykorzystania w aspekcie potrzeb i preferencji osób niepełnosprawnych. Istotne jest ukazanie form czasu wolnego, z jakich korzystają i jakie chętnie wybierają osoby z dysfunkcjami, a także zaznaczenie istotnej roli turystyki i teatru w życiu osób niepełnosprawnych. Realizacji powyższego celu posłużyły: przegląd literatury, dane statystyczne oraz wyniki badań przeprowadzonych na podstawie autorskiej ankiety skierowanej do osób niepełnosprawnych z Domu Pomocy Społecznej w Poraju. Zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie upowszechnienia pojęcia czasu wolnego, a także coraz efektywniejsze jego wykorzystywanie.

In the developing world, more and more attention is paid to the free time, with the emphasis on spare time for people with disabilities. The purpose of this article is to identify forms of free time and the possibility of their use in terms of the needs and preferences of people with disabilities. It is important to show the forms of leisure time, which are used and willingly chosen by the people with disabilities, as well as the important role of tourism and theater in the lives of people with disablements. The above- -mentioned goals were achieved by: literature review, statistical data, and the research results based on the author’s survey addressed to the disabled people from the Nursing Home Care in Poraj. The attention was paid to the importance of popularizing the concept of leisure, as well as making more effective use of it.

This paper deals with the educational competence of a voluntary worker with children and youth in the domain of free time. It briefly describes problems of free time, contemporary education in the free time and further education of these workers. It also deals with the competences on the general level and their use in the educational process. It presents the suggested structure of the competences of the worker and in greater detail it develops the educational competence. It shows the results of research which dealt with the analysis and comparisons of selected structures of the educational competence. On the basis of theoretical knowledge and facts established by this research it consequently identifies main content categories of the educational competences.
