The paper focuses on the formal analysis of hand-axe found in the secondary deposit in Ulina Wielka on an area of Cracow-Czestochowa Upland (Southern Poland) and aims at evaluating its cultural and chronological affiliation using technological, typological and comparative analyses and an attempt of stratification analysis. Results of typological and comparative analyses point on the Upper Acheulean character of the described hand-axe. It is confirmed by numerous analogies from areas of Western and Central Europe. However, it is not excluded that the hand-axe from Ulina Wielka has a younger chronology. It was found in place without clear stratigraphical context. Similar hand-axes used to be found also in Late Acheulean, Micoque and Mousterian assemblages till the middle phase of the Vistulian Ice Age. Results of mentioned analyses do not support univocal cultural and chronological determination of hand-axe find from Ulina Wielka.
