The article focuses on several themes that make up the body of Hayao Miyazakis Princess Mononoke - an anime film dominated by environmental themes. The article presents the message of the film, which at the same time corresponds to other works by the Japanese director. Therefore, the article presents a film studies perspective that includes the analysis of film. Apart from that, the article presents other perspectives: anthropological - discussion of non-human beings and showing themes from Japanese folklore, and historical and social ones, which include open criticism of contemporary society and the influence of postcolonial thought.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie różnych perspektyw filmu Księżniczka Mononoke - dzieła anime autorstwa japońskiego reżysera Hayao Miyazakiego, które jest zdominowane przez motywy ekologiczne i myśl antropocentryczną. Artykuł przedstawia humanistyczną perspektywę filmu, która koresponduje z innymi obrazami japońskiego twórcy. Tekst obejmuję analizę filmoznawczą i przedstawia perspektywę antropologiczną (w tym byty nieludzkie wywodzące się z japońskiego folkloru) oraz motywy historyczno-społeczne, do których należy krytyka współczesnego społeczeństwa i wpływy myśli postkolonialnej. Dodatkowo filmy Miyazakiego zostały zilustrowane pod kątem filozofii taoistycznej.

The article raises the problem of non-Eurocentric approaches to natural disasters – treating them as ordinary rather than traumatic events. For some archaic (indigenous) types of thinking, fundamental changes taking place in the environment do not cause the cessation of relations with nature and involve the need to constantly adapt to its conditions, even at the expense of one’s own welfare or living. Hayao Miyazaki’s anime film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind also discusses this issue. The animistic thinking about the environment (Japanese Shintoism) shown in it opens a reflection on the possibility of considering old worldviews in the reflection on the ethical future of man on the eve of the climate collapse.

В статье обосновывается проблематика функционирования музыки в системе медиатекста, анализируются этапы творческого сотрудничества композитора Джо Хисаиши и режиссера Хаяо Миядзаки в процессе создания анимационных фильмов, освещаются важнейшие события биографии этих мастеров. На примере анимационного фильма «Унесенные призраками» (2001) выявлены особенности взаимодействия музыкального, речевого и видео рядов в определена роль фортепиано в акустическом пространстве киномузыки Джо Хисаиши.

The article explains the problems of music functioning in the media text system, analyzes the stages of the creative collaboration of composer Joe Hisaishi and director Hayao Miyazaki in the creation of animated films, highlights the most important events in the biography of artists. On the example of the animated film "Spirited Away" (2001), the peculiarities of interaction of music, voice and video in the series are revealed, the role of the piano in the acoustic space of film music by Joe Hisaishi is defined.
