The growing role of outsourcing and offshoring has a significant impact on new forms of economic flows which gradually evolve from simple economic flows towards complex, integrated kinds. The article also looks at logistics mega-regions and appraises their share in the global value of logistics services. The supply chain is characterised as the basis for economic flows. Particular attention is given to certain tasks performed by supply chains, such as optimal utilisation of company assets, time compression in logistic operations, reduction of transaction costs, and the concentration of efforts on actions creating value for customers.
