Przeglądowe kompendium wiedzy na temat dziejów miasta zostało zawarte w nigdy nie opublikowanym i istniejącym jedynie w formie maszynopisu opracowaniu, autorstwa Jakuba Goldberga „Studium historyczno-urbanistyczne Szadku” z 1961 r. Autor, wybitny, historyk polsko-izraelski, w latach 2010–2011 był członkiem rady redakcyjnej „Biuletynu Szadkowskiego”. „Studium” składa się z sześciu rozdziałów, z których cztery pierwsze dotyczą dziejów Szadku od czasów średniowiecza do XIX w. Kolejne dwa rozdziały poświęcone zostały problematyce rozwoju przestrzennego miasta. Artykuł przywołuje pierwszą część opracowania J. Goldberga odnoszącą się do historii miasta od momentu jego lokacji pod koniec XII w. praktycznie do połowy XIX w.

Jakub Goldberg’s „Studium historyczno-urbanistyczne Szadku” („Study of the history and urban development of Szadek”) of 1961, which has never been published and exists only in typescript form, is a compendium of knowledge about the history of this city. Jakub Goldberg, an outstanding Polish-Israeli historian, was in 2010–2011 a member of the Editorial Board of „Biuletyn Szadkowski”. The „Study” consists of six chapters, the first four of which relate to the history of Szadek from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The following two chapters are devoted to spatial development of the city. This article is concerned with the first part of J. Goldberg’s work dealing with the history of Szadek from its location at the end of the 12th century to the mid-19th century.

Studium historyczno-urbanistyczne Szadku (Historical study of the development of Szadek), prepared by J. Goldberg in 1961, is a compendium of knowledge about the history of this town. It has not been published and exist in the form of typescript. The author, a distinguished Polish-Israeli historian, in the years 2010–2011 was a member of the editorial board of ‘Biuletyn Szadkowski’. Studium consists of six chapters, of which the first four deal with the history of Szadek from the Middle Ages to 19th century. The article highlights the second part of the study – two chapters and the related graphic material – concerned with the spatial development of the town.
