Open Access coraz bardziej zmienia podejście do kształtowania systemu informacji naukowej. W nowych warunkach funkcjonowania wykorzystywana w bibliometrii baza indeksów cytowań Web of Science obok danych bibliograficznych i abstraktów udostępnia odsyłacze do zasobów w Open Access. Serwis daje możliwość grupowania publikacji naukowych, wieloaspektowego wyszukiwania, analizowania i monitoringu milionów dokumentów w jednym miejscu w sieci. W artykule skupiono się na zagadnieniu zarządzania informacją w komercyjnej bazie Web of Science oraz przedstawiono sposoby prezentacji zasobów OA w Web of Science i Journal Citation Reports. Ze względu na rozległość problematyki rozważania ograniczono do wybranych aspektów.

Open Access is constantly changing the approach to shaping the scientific information system. In the new operating conditions, the database of Web of Science citation indexes, used inbibliometrics, provides bibliographic data and abstracts as well as links to resources in Open Access. This website gives the possibility of grouping scientific publications, multi-aspect searching, analyzing and monitoring millions of documents in one place. The aim of the article is to draw attention to information management in the commercial Web of Science database and to present the methods of OA resources presentation in Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports Due to the extent of the issues, the consideration is limited to selected aspects of the presented subject matter.

The rise of predatory journals: The case of Dr. Anna Fraud

This article discusses the challenges and problems caused by predatory journals in scholarly communication. By focusing on the editorial practices, I describe the case of Dr. Anna Fraud (Anna O. Szust in Polish): a bogus scientist created by four Polish scholars. Dr. Fraud became a member of editorial boards in over 40 scientific journals although she is a fake person and, obviously has no experience in journal editing. The present paper aims to show that scientist always have to care about a quality control and a peer review system. The article concludes with a presentation of the ‘Think. Check. Submit’ Initiative which provides useful and helpful tools for analysing journals by potential contributors.

Publikacje polskich naukowców indeksowane w Social Sciences Citation Index w latach 2009-2015

This article examines publications of the Polish scientists which are indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index. All the articles and reviews from the 2009 2015 period (N = 6109) published in 1,799 journals were analyzed into the study. An impact factor quartile has been assigned to each journal on the basis of the the Journal Citation Reports. The present study has revealed that Polish scientists publish more articles in journals that are indexed on the A list of the Polish Journal Ranking and, at the same time, the share of articles from the first and second impact factors quartiles has been significantly growing.

W artykule przeanalizowano publikacje polskich naukowców indeksowane w Social Sciences Citation Index. Wzięto pod uwagę wszystkie artykuły oraz artykuły przeglądowe z lat 2009-2015 (N = 6109) opublikowane w 1799 czasopismach. Każdemu czasopismu przyporządkowany został odpowiedni kwartyl Impact Factora na podstawie danych z Journal Citation Reports. Badanie pokazało, że polscy naukowcy publikują coraz więcej artykułów w czasopismach z części A „Wykazu czasopism punktowanych” i jednocześnie coraz częściej wybierają czasopisma z I lub II kwartyla Impact Factora.

It indicates serious flaws of this Bill regarding legislation and the science of science (including bibliometrics), and proposes significant amendments to the content of the provisions of this Directive.
