Prezentowana wizytacja kościoła kosowskiego z połowy XIX wieku daje wystarczająco informacji o administracji, posłudze pastoralnej i uposażeniu Kościoła katolickiego na Kresach Wschodnich, okresu staropolskiego Rzeczypospolitej. Ukazuje także znaczące postacie z ówczesnego życia politycznego i społecznego. Jednak najbogatszą jej częścią są dane dotyczące parafii wizytowanej, od najmniejszego szczegółu czy przedmiotu, po budowle sakralne (z ich wyposażeniem i paramentami do sprawowania kultu), mieszkalne i gospodarcze. Wizytacja ukazuje także troskę o stan moralny i dobra materialne parafii oraz porządek i rozkład liturgii sprawowanej w kościele parafialnym w Kosowie.

The visitation of the parish church in Kosowo which took place in the middle of 19th century provides us with a wealth of information concerning administration, pastoral care and emolument of the Catholic Church in the historical region of Kresy Wschodnie (“Eastern Borderlands”) in the Old-Polish period of the Commonwealth. Moreover, the record of visitation presents high-profile personae of political and social life of the era. However, its richest part is the set of data pertaining to the visit-ed parish. The data encompass very detailed matters such as descriptions of some every-day objects. They also concern sacred buildings (including their equipment and liturgical paraments), as well as dwellings and outbuildings. The visitation in question is also expressive of assiduous attention paid to moral standards as well as the order and arrangement of liturgies celebrated in the parish church of Kosowo.

The presented visitation of the church of Kosów conducted at the end of the 18th century gives us the information about the administration, pastoral ministry and the emoluments of the parish church in Kosów located in the Eastern Borderlands in the Old Polish Period. It also reveals signifi cant fi gures of political and social life of the time. Its most valuable part contains data referring to the visited parish dedicated to the Holy Trinity and the Holy Cross in Kosów (Poleski) collected by Rev. Jan Nepomucen Kadłubowski; the information ranges from the smallest details or objects to religious buildings (with their equipment and vestments used for worship), residential buildings and outbuildings. The visitation also shows concern for the moral state, material goods of the parish and the order of the liturgy celebrated in the parish church in Kosów.

This article presents the person of Daniel Beavois – a distinguished student of the Polish-Russian-Ukrainian relations in the post-partitioned era – and his contacts with the editors of the Paris ‘Kultura’. The author’s concern is also with the question of how Beavois’ work on the Polish nobility in Ukraine in the years 1831–63 was received among Polish post-war exiles, and with Beavois’ postcolonial diagnosis that emerged on the margins of his research and concerned the tensions to which Polish national identity was subject in Poland’s old eastern borderland (the so-called Kresy).

Przedmiotem rozważań jest obecność i recepcja prac Daniela Beauvois na łamach wydawnictw Instytutu Literackiego w Paryżu („Kultura”, „Zeszyty Historyczne”, Biblioteka „Kultury”), a także sformułowana na ich marginesie postkolonialna diagnoza napięć, jakie w polskiej tożsamości narodowej wywołała obecność na Kresach Wschodnich.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie dorobku historiograficznego na temat Kresów Wschodnich Rzeczypospolitej na przestrzeni ostatnich trzydziestu lat, kiedy po usunięciu cenzury wielu badaczy w polskich środowiskach akademickich oraz wielu literatów, publicystów, dokumentalistów, autorów wspomnień i pamiętników, poczęło publikować ważne prace naukowe, popularnonaukowe i publicystyczne. W artykule przedstawiony jest dorobek najwybitniejszych i najpłodniejszych badaczy Kresów. Autor poddaje analizie najważniejsze wypowiedzi i dzieła m.in. prof. Jacka Kolbuszewskiego, Bolesława Hadaczka, Janusza Tazbira, Jerzego Janickiego, Witolda Szolgini, Tadeusza Olszańskiego, Romana Aftanazego, Daniela Beauvois oraz ustosunkowuje się do dyskursu politycznego na temat rzekomej „kresomanii”.

The purpose of the article is to present historiographic accomplishments concerning the Eastern Borderlands of Poland in the last 30 years, when after the abolition of censorship, numerous Polish academics, writers, journalists, documentalists, diary and memoir authors began to publish influential scholarly, popular as well as journalistic works. The article presents the output of the most outstanding and prolific among the Polish borderlands researchers. The author of the article ideintifies the key statements and works, of writers such as Prof. Jacek Kolbuszewski, Bolesław Hadacz, Janusz Tazbir, Jerzy Janicki, Witold Szolgini, Tadeusz Olszański, Roman Aftanazy and Daniel Beavois. The author also expresses his attitude to the dominant political discourse on the alleged “borderland-mamia” (Pol. kresomania).

Цель статьи - представить историографические достижения по теме восточных окраин Речи Посполитой за последние тридцать лет, когда после отмены цензуры многие исследователи в польских академических кругах и многие писатели, обозреватели, документалисты, авторы мемуаров и дневников начали публиковать важные научные, научно-популярные и публицистические труды. В статье представлены достижения самых выдающихся и плодовитых исследователей окраины. Автор анализирует наиболее важные высказывания и работы, в том числе проф. Яцека Колбушевского, Болеслава Хадачека, Януша Тазбира, Ежего Яницкого, Витольда Шолгини, Тадеуша Ольшанского, Романа Афтанази, Даниэла Бовуа и отвечает на политический дискурс о так называемой »Кресомании«.
