In this review, the author indicates the damage that can be caused by writing scientific texts to prove a preconceived thesis. According to Oleksiy Toločko and his team, The Galician-Volhynian Chronicle (Romanovichi Chronicle) is a late mediaeval source. Their claim that its compilation began after 1264, and that the final text was developed after 1292 is open to question, but a significant part of the analysis carried out by the Kyiv researchers aims to substantiate this thesis. Nevertheless, the text under review contains some high-quality analysis of individual fragments of the Chronicle.

Autor na przykładzie recenzowanej książki stara się pokazać szkody, jakie powoduje pisanie prac naukowych pod tezę. Według Oleksija Tołoczki i jego zespołu Kronika halicko-wołyńska (Kronika Romanowiczów) jest źródłem późnym. Jej pisanie rozpoczęto po 1264 r., ostatecznie zaś tekst zredagowano po 1292 r. Znaczna część przeprowadzonej przez kijowskich badaczy analizy materiału źródłowego podporządkowana jest dowiedzeniu powyżej wspomnianej tezy, choć zdarzają się znakomite pod względem jakości opracowania poszczególnych fragmentów Kroniki.
