The rain is a strikingly modest metaphor of solitude. However, it can deliver both its mutable intensity and dynamics (The solitude by Rainer Maria Rilke) and its life-giving and death-bringing power (The rains by Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński). The solitude proves that existential element that almost abolishes the limit between God and the man: The divine and the human get mixed in the raindrops that falling down embrace the world like God and that reflect the man as much as he seems to be inside.

Szpulak Andrzej, Filmowe wcielenia Krzysztofa Kamila Baczyńskiego [Film Incarnations of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński]. „Przestrzenie Teorii” 32. Poznań 2019, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 301–322. ISSN 1644-6763. DOI 10.14746/pt.2019.32.16. The text concerns two film biographies of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, an outstanding and legendary poet of the Second World War killed in 1944 during the Warsaw Uprising. The films Fourth Day by Ludmiła Niedbalska (1984) and Baczyński by Konrad Piwowarski (2013) were subject to a comparative analysis. It covered genaelogical issues, the poet’s biography and a presentation of his work. The analysis shows the extreme difference in creative concepts, and thus the various possibilities that the biographical film faces.

The story of the post-war edition of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński’s poems entitled Śpiew z pożogi [Song of Fire] (1947) is discussed. The book edited by Stefania Baczyńska and Kazimierz Wyka completely disregarded and differed from the authorial version of Śpiew z pożogi prepared before the outbreak of the Uprising, which was meant to be Baczyński’s official poetic debut. The impact of the post-war edition of Utwory zebrane [Collected works] on the reception of Baczyński’s poetry and the poet’s image in Polish literary culture is discussed.

The article attempts to provide a contextual interpretation of a few chosen poems written by Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński. The biographical and historical context left an extraordinary imprint on the poet’s work. In his lyrics, along with light-hearted, fairy tale like scenery there appear, in the course of time, increasingly clear and menacing signs of the horrifying reality of war and Nazi occupation. The poet searches for salvation and recovery of the original world of nature. Nevertheless, he ends up being defeated by the terrifying forces of history.

Artykuł podejmuje próbę kontekstualnej interpretacji wybranych liryków Krzysztofa Kamila Baczyńskiego o zabarwieniu erotycznym. Kontekst biografi czny i historyczny odcisnął niebywałe piętno na dorobku poety. W lirykach erotycznych obok beztroskich, baśniowych scenerii z biegiem czasu pojawiają się coraz wyraźniejsze i groźniejsze symptomy straszliwej rzeczywistości wojny i okupacji. W tych wierszach miłość współistnieje ze śmiercią. Poeta szuka ocalenia i odtworzenia pierwotnego świata natury. Zostaje jednak pokonany przez złowrogie mechanizmy historii.
