This article offers an analysis of legal terminology obtained from testaments written by citizens of Trnava in the first half of the 19th century. The research based on 100 testaments reveals the formation of Slovak legal terminology. The aim of this paper is to provide an analysis of the lexical-semantic field of vocabulary, of the inter-lingual interference and the systematization of legal terms by terminological approach. The usage of synonyms, which is typical for the development of specific (legal) terminology, was a common feature of testaments in the past. It is possible to say that the Slovak legal terminology in the analysed testaments has a partly regional character.
