In the article, a new subspecies of oilseed hemp (Cannabis sativa L. var. oleifera) is described. It was obtained in 2007 by crossbreeding two cultivars of fiber hemp – a monoecious and dioecious one. After seven years of intensive selection, the best line, no. IWN P/08 was submitted for registration tests at the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing (COBORU). Following its positive assessment, the line was entered into the register of cultivars as Henola. The new cultivar of oilseed hemp differs from fiber hemp cultivars with a vegetation period three weeks shorter, lower plants (ca. 150 cm) and a larger and denser inflorescence. Over the period of 2013-2015, field trials were conducted at the Stary Sielec Experimental Station (ZD Stary Sielec), to examine the influence of sowing density (20, 40 and 60 kg/ha) of line no. IWN P/08 on the yield of seeds, oil and straw. The experiments were conducted on soil of medium agricultural use (Cl. IV) observing good agricultural practice. The results obtained demonstrate the considerable influence of the weather in the course of vegetation and sowing density on the yield. The highest yield (three-year average) of seeds (43.9 dt/ha), oil (12.5 dt/ha) and straw (180 dt/ha) was obtained with sowing density of 60 kg/ha. The results of field experiments so far indicate a high dependence of plant yields on sowing density. Therefore, further research into the influence of other agrotechnical factors on the height and quality of Henola oilseed cultivar is under way.
