This paper is an attempt at presenting the construct of open society as a consequence of the critical rationalist position. The above mentioned position was originally taken by Karl Popper on the basis of methodology of the (natural) sciences. If we accept this interpretation, which is quite different from Bryan Magee's thesis (though at first glance seeming identical), it will be much easier to capture the factual 'weaknesses' in Popper's political philosophy. The historical context in which his reflections arose (especially his two books: 'The Poverty of Historicism' and 'The Open Society and Its Enemies') was not without influence on his proposal, which the author treated as his personal contribution to the fight against the authoritarian and totalitarian ideology.

There is not much in the open society to suggest that Karl Popper was a moral objectivist. Yet, that is exactly what he himself claimed later in life. Was the widespread “decisionistic” reading of the open society just a grand misunderstanding, or did Popper change his meta-ethical views without acknowledging it? I give reasons as to why we should hold the latter to be true. I also argue that even were the former the case, decisionism would still be more compatible with the open society ideal.

The aim of the article is to present an alternative theoretical approach to the sphere of social reality (with an as its basic „building block“) and its various forms – K. R. Popper’s theory of critical rationalism and open society (democracy). The main reference is to promote Popper’s critical rationalism and his open society theory as „an axiology of civilized society“ based on idea of morally (humanistic) conditioned freedom of man as expressed in Popper’s liberalism. The work deals with the reflection of Popper’s „open society“ hypothesis (concept) as a metaphor for philosophically justifiable, open space of coexistence among individuals, medium of which is a democracy as a political and an institutional guarantee of an autonomous creativity.

This article presents the problems associated with the processes of sacralization and desacralization of modern societies which are taking place at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first century. The clergy protest against desacralization and the society criticizes fundamental tendencies of the clergy. The existing situation is caused by the lack of communication and the dialogue between the modern society and the clergy.
