In the Płock Diocesan Archive, it was possible to find unknown testimonies of holy orders from the diocese of Płock from 1486 and 1504. They refer to the ordination of three clerics from Wilkanów and Nowa Wieś by the Płock ordinaries and suffragans. The analysis of these materials is important for the prosopographical studies of the Płock diocese’s clergy in the late Middle Ages.

The presented article presents and analyzes the attitudes and reactions of the clergy of the Płock diocese as well as the activities of the party and state authorities in connection with the pastoral letter prepared by the Polish Episcopate entitled “On the anniversary of the great mercies of God” in 1970. This letter was prepared in connection with the 50th anniversary of the “Miracle on the Vistula”, that is, the Battle of Warsaw in August 1920 during the Polish-Bolshevik war.

Prezentowany artykuł przedstawia oraz analizuje postawy i reakcje duchowieństwa diecezji płockiej oraz działania władz partyjno-państwowych w związku z przygotowanym przez Episkopat Polski listem pasterskim pod tytułem „Na rocznicę wielkich zmiłowań Bożych” w 1970 roku. List ten został opracowany w związku z 50 rocznicą „Cudu nad Wisłą”, czyli bitwy warszawskiej w sierpniu 1920 roku w czasie wojny polsko-bolszewickiej.

The article presents the problems concerning building of a chapel and creating a Żebry-Perosy congregation nearby Ostrołęka in the years 1956–1978. In the article there are shown the efforts of the Roman Catholic Church of Płock diocese in the issue mentioned above and the stand of the Communist Party towards the idea of creating the new congregation. Archival sources and the literature of the subject were used to write the article. The article represents a contribution to the newest history of the Płock diocese in the period of the Polish People’s Republic, the state–Church relations on its territory and the Żebry-Perosy congregation.

Artykuł niniejszy przedstawia problem dotyczący budowy kaplicy i utworzenia parafii Żebry-Perosy koło Ostrołęki w latach 1956–1978. W artykule zaprezentowano starania Kościoła katolickiego diecezji płockiej w tej kwestii oraz stanowisko władz komunistycznych w sprawie utworzenia nowej parafii. Przy pisaniu tekstu wykorzystano dokumenty archiwalne oraz literaturę przedmiotu. Artykuł stanowi przyczynek do dziejów najnowszych diecezji płockiej w okresie PRL-u, relacji państwo–Kościół na jej terenie oraz parafii Żebry-Perosy.

Jan of Plock appears in sources in 1506 as a student at the University of Kraków. In the following years of his life he achieved bachelor's and master's degrees at this university. He also joined the clergy and was ordained between 1511 and 1521. After his ordination to the rank of presbyter, he took the altarist benefice in one of the churches in Płock. He probably belonged to that group of medieval clergy who, having no family support and no property of their own, hoped to achieve a significant position in the Church structures thanks to their own skills and education.

Jan z Płocka pojawia się w źródłach w 1506 r. jako student Uniwersytetu Krakowskiego. W następnych latach swojego życia osiągnął na tej uczelni stopnie bakałarza i mistrza „sztuk”. Wstąpił także w szeregi stanu duchownego i w latach 1511-1521 przyjął wszystkie stopnie święceń. Po ordynowaniu go do stopnia prezbitera objął beneficjum altarysty w jednym z płockich kościołów. Należał zapewne do tej grupy średniowiecznego kleru, która – nie mając oparcia w rodzinie i nie posiadając własnego majątku – liczyła na to, że osiągnie znaczącą pozycję w strukturach Kościoła dzięki własnym zdolnościom i zdobytemu wykształceniu.

Mało znany inwentarz dóbr biskupstwa płockiego z 1650 roku

The following were discussed in the archival context: the place of storage, state of preservation, physical description and reasons why the 1650 inventory of the Płock bishopric has been little used by researchers. The discussion was conducted against the background of the achievements of Polish historiography in the matter in question, as well as the state of preservation and the content of other inventories of the Płock bishopric from the 16th-18th centuries, preserved in the Diocesan Archives in Płock. Then, the origin and course of the 1650 inspection and review, carried out on the initiative of the bishop of Płock, Karol Ferdynand Waza, were presented. The author presented the contents of the inventory broken down into descriptions of 139 villages, 47 granges, 7 towns and briefly characterized the other items of the contents. They pointed to the extensive possibilities of using the source in research on the economic history of Mazovia against the comparative background of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland, social relations, the structure of farm size, settlement and onomastics.

Omówiono w kontekście archiwistycznym: miejsce przechowywania, stan zachowania, opis fizyczny i przyczyny małego wykorzystania przez badaczy inwentarza dóbr biskupstwa płockiego z 1650 r. Omówienia dokonano na tle osiągnięć historiografii polskiej w przedmiotowej kwestii oraz stanu zachowania i zawartości innych inwentarzy biskupstwa płockiego z XVI-XVIII wieku zachowanych w Archiwum Diecezjalnym w Płocku. Następnie przedstawiono genezę i przebieg lustracji z 1650 r., przeprowadzonej z inicjatywy biskupa płockiego Karola Ferdynanda Wazy. Autor przedstawił treść inwentarza w rozbiciu na opisy 139 wsi, 47 folwarków, 7 miast i krótko scharakteryzował pozostałe treści. Wskazał na szerokie możliwości wykorzystania źródła w badaniach nad historią gospodarczą Mazowsza na tle porównawczym Korony, stosunków społecznych, struktury wielkości gospodarstw, osadnictwa i onomastyki.
