Objectives:  The present study aimed to to investigate the role of the leisure time physical activities in the control of abnormal behaviours of male high school students in Tehran (Iran). Methods: A sample of 1715 students was selected based on multi-stage cluster random sampling using Cochran’s formula. The research instrument was an ad hoc questionnaire of abnormal behaviours elaborated by the researchers and based on the previous literature. Its validity was confirmed by a group of fifteen university teachers of physical education, sociology, and psychology. The reliability was 0.85 using Cronbach’s alpha. Descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and independent samples t-test (p?0.05) were used in the analysis of the data. Findings: The results showed that participation in leisure time physical activities has a positive role in reducing all the three areas of abnormal behaviours (maladaptive behaviours, anti-social behaviours, and immoral behaviours). Conclusions: Family leisure time planners, social and health policy makers are recommended to take supportive measures in order to incorporate sports activities in students’ lifestyle.

Body dissatisfaction is considered to be one of the most important risk factors for disordered eating. The role of physical activity in the context of body dissatisfaction and disordered eat-ing is by and large ambiguous, even more so in childhood. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to explore the interaction effects between physical activity and motives for exercise and body dissatisfaction on restrained eating in normal weight children. The cross-sectional analyses refer to N = 602 primary scholars (7-12 years old). Multiple stepwise regression mod-els showed that the enhancing effect of body dissatisfaction on restrained eating can be buff-ered by physical activity among boys (R2 = 0.15, F(1, 261) = 2.31, p = 0.05). Among girls, physi-cal activity in combination with body dissatisfaction increases restrained eating significantly (R2 = 0.26, F(1, 225) = 15.46, p< 0.0001). Concerning the motives for exercise, the emotional motive and the health and fitness motive in relation with body dissatisfaction significantly increase restrained eating in boys (R2 = 0.23, F(1, 181) = 6.93, p=0.05). Similarly, for girls, the emotional motive and the health and fitness motive in relation with body dissatisfaction in-crease restrained eating significantly (R2 = 0.48, F(1, 131) = 15.60, p< 0.001). Thus, the reflec-tion upon the role of physical activity and motives for exercise in young children might be an approach to preventing disordered eating in relation to body dissatisfaction.

Purpose: The purpose of the research is to analyze the role that sport plays in the lives of persons with physical disabilities within the process of rehabilitation and the improvement of their quality of life. Background: The article raises the notions of changes that take place in the life of a physically handicapped person which is due to their engagement in a sports activity. In the article, I refer to the subjective perspective of those researched, rendering their own point of view into the major subject of analysis. Methods: Qualitative data are exploited in the research, collected through a technique of unstructured interviews and undisguised observations conducted among the disabled practicing sports. Findings: The role of sport practiced by the disabled has been determined within several contexts, which were distinguished within the course of the research as analytical categories. Conclusion: On the basis of the research it was found that getting involved in a sports activity is significant within the process of experiencing life satisfaction, personal development and the reconstruction of the ego, self-identity, and transformations in the manner of perceiving both themselves and others. Therefore, a sports activity of a disabled person supports the rehabilitation process effectively.

Objectives: One issue regarding prescription of physical activity (PA) is adherence, with enjoyment being shown to be a factor, and extroversion being associated with enjoyment. Furthermore, anecdotal evidence suggests that PA as part of a group yields superior levels of enjoyment than non-groups, however this has not been explored to date. It is the purpose of this study to explore associations between enjoyment and extroversion in group vs non-group PA. Methods: 17 subjects were recruited and randomised into two groups: ‘group’ and ‘non-group’. ‘Group’ subjects walked for 30-minutes for 5 consecutive days as part of a pair, and ‘non-group’ subjects doing the same intervention alone. All subjects completed two surveys, one pre-intervention measuring extroversion using the Goldberg Transparent Bi-Polar Inventory and wellness using the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale. The post-intervention survey measured wellness and enjoyment of the intervention using the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale. A pedometer was also worn. Findings: The multiple regression model statistically predicted enjoyment (F(7,7) = 15.168, p=<0.001,adj.R2=0.876), with only sub-group type and wellness levels adding significantly to the prediction (p=<0.05). Moreover, the ‘group’ sub-group took significantly more steps than the ‘non-group’ sub-group (18,395 vs 13,168; p=<0.001). Conclusions: Wellbeing and sub-group type were predictors of enjoyment. Furthermore, subjects who walked in pairs took more steps than subjects who walked alone. Practitioners should consider prescribing PA as part of a group to yield higher enjoyment levels and higher levels of activity. Due to the small sample size, further study is needed with more subjects.

The purpose of the article is to present commercials broadcasted during global sporting events such as the US Super Bowl, the Olympic Games and Paralympics, the world championships, as well as the European Football Championships. While examining the phenomenon of commercials, a quality method was applied, in the form of film content/plot analysis. The commercials were treated as peculiar texts of contemporary culture, an element of wider discourse associated with sport-an important component of postmodern social reality. Nowadays mass media are a universal language of communication of the global world. Public duties also rest with them, the sign of which are advertisements concerning disability, encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle and an escape from diseases associated with the progress of civilization.
