In the early days of the November Uprising can be noted efforts taken to expand the armed forces of the Polish Kingdom. Appointment of line infantry regiments is an example of this phenomenon. In the province of Plock it was formed tw oline infantry regiment, with consecutive numbers 17 and 18. The main difficulties when setting up branches were shortages of supply and equipping. Both regiments took an active part in the fighting insurgents.

W początkowym okresie powstania listopadowego można odnotować dążenia zmierzające do powiększenia sił zbrojnych Królestwa Polskiego. Powołanie pułków piechoty liniowej jest przykładem tego zjawiska. W województwie płockim sformowano dwa pułku piechoty liniowej, o kolejnych numerach 17 i 18. Głównymi trudnościami w czasie tworzenia oddziałów były braki w zaopatrzeniu i wyekwipowaniu. Oba pułki wzięły czynny udział w walkach 1831 roku.
