W artykule omówiono ofertę polskich bibliotek publicznych skierowaną do cudzoziemców. Przedstawiono dane statystyczne Urzędu do Spraw Cudzoziemców dotyczące najliczniejszych grup narodowościowych zamieszkujących Polskę czasowo bądź na stałe. Wskazano bariery uniemożliwiające bądź utrudniające cudzoziem-com korzystanie ze zbiorów i usług polskich bibliotek. Na wybranych przykładach zaprezentowano ofertę bibliotek przeznaczoną dla obcokrajowców. Przybliżono naj-ważniejsze działania i projekty bibliotek na rzecz integracji i tolerancji. Omówiono program Erasmus+ Wolontariat Europejski oraz podano przykłady uczestniczących w nim bibliotek.

The article discusses the collections of Polish libraries accessible to for-eigners. On the basis of the data obtained from the Office for Foreigners, regarding the most prominent minority groups living permanently or temporarily on the ter-ritory of Poland, it points to the obstacles which prevent foreigners from accessing the book collections and services offered by Polish libraries. The article discusses, based on selected examples, the offerings of Polish libraries accessible to foreigners. Moreover, it presents the most important initiatives and projects undertaken by librar-ies to promote integration and tolerance, including the Erasmus+ European Voluntary Serviceprogram and the participating libraries.

Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna w Gliwicach w ostatnich latach odnotowuje dwa wysokie wskaźniki w swej działalności: ponad 52 000 osób wypożyczających zbiory oraz zbliżoną liczbę odbiorców oferty kulturalno-edukacyjnej. W artykule przedstawiono wprowadzone rozwiązania technologiczne i nowe zasoby, które wpłynęły na jakość podejmowanych działań. Omówiono najważniejsze projekty dotyczące praktycznego wykorzystania technologii w tworzeniu atrakcyjnej oferty, a także osiągnięcia gliwickiej biblioteki w tym zakresie. Zaprezentowany materiał może być zachętą i inspiracją dla innych instytucji kultury do wdrażania podobnych rozwiązań.

The City Public Library in Gliwice over the recent years has been record-ing the following high indicators of its activity: more than 52,000 individuals lent items from the library’s collections and a similar number of users took advantage of the library’s cultural-educational offer. The article presents solutions introduced,consisting of technology and new library resources, which both increased the quality of the Public Library’s activity. This outline discusses the most significant projects from a viewpoint of utilizing technology in the creation of an attractive offer and, particularly, the Gliwice library’s achievements within this scope of activity. The presented material may encourage and inspire those cultural institutions who are willing to implement similar solutions in their services and activity.
