Competitive economic conditions drive Continuous Improvement (CI) processes within organisations. CI systems and practices are easily accessible. However, questions have to be asked: Is the organization ready for necessary CI changes and is resistance to change an issue in the business? In the change management process the maturity of the organizational culture plays the key role. A significant set of requirements has to be fulfilled to facilitate transformation of the changes into constructive results. In order to assess the level of business advancement, and the maturity of those requirements, the Culture Failure Mode Effect Analysis Tool (CFMEA) has been created. CFMEA provides a practical system for assessing long–term changes, and, in the short term, will make the company fully aware of the critical cultural aspects that have to be developed. CFMEA is an original technique for identifying effects and causes of potential failures during the change implementation process and an organization’s readiness for change.

As the backgound for the opinions of the Bible on the stat, this article presents briefly the history of Israel, divided into two main periods: national monarchy (earlier period of the Old Testament) and submission to the foreign powers (later books of the Old Testament and the New Testament). The opinions of the Old Testament on the own state hesitate between hope and disappointment, between optimism (royal ideology and messianism, tasks of the king, principles of government) and criticisms (Judges 9, 1 Samuel 8-12, bad kings). A moderate conclusion is offered by the Pentateuch (law above politics, Deut 17). In the attitudes towards the empires, we find two contradictory currents: submission to foreign rule and resistance. In the New Testament we find an acceptation of the state in the New Testament (Mark 12 on taxation, authority from God in Romans 13, 1 Cor 12.12-30), but also criticisms, triggered by persecutions (life of Jesus and Paul, Rev 13-19 and the satanic side of the empire). The state has its lawful authority, both instituted and limited by God and his law. This institution has some justification, but also serious vices (godlessness, violence, high taxes). However, the citizens should obey the state which deals justly with them.

Academic ‘labour’ within the Higher Education landscape is changing as universities are increasingly managed as business organisations. In the contemporary neoliberal academic context, departments and individuals are required to develop forms of accountability based on quantitative metrics regarding performance, budgets, human resource management and income generation. Drawing from Foucauldian theories of power, this article explores the contentious implementation of workload allocation models in the UK Higher Education sector not only as an illustration of a superimposed managerial tool of control but also as an instrument of resistance. This article suggests that in order to counteract the systematic failure of neoliberal academia at the individual and collective level, these performance management tools can be used as forms of empowerment and resistance. Further, it is recommended that these instruments are designed in a collaborative way to ensure fair and transparent allocations of tasks and responsibilities, and to avoid unmanageable workloads.

Joseph Vialatoux is the main figure in social Catholicism in France in the first half of the twentieth century. During the Nazi occupation he examined the nature of Pétain’s government in Vichy and the legitimacy of resistance of General de Gaulle. Apart from a detailed analysis of the Vichy’s power, which Vialatoux reveals as a totalitarian regime, he deals with general philosophical reflections on political power. It may be surprising for some that here the author uses the scholastic model, which can already be found in works more than three hundred years earlier in the political thinking of Francisco Suárez. This theoretical analysis then helps the author defend the ideas of the legitimacy of the resistance of General de Gaulle, in which Vialatoux sees a representative of the national consciousness and defending the general welfare of the French nation.
