Fond Diplomatica Polonica preserved at Riksarkivet (The National Archives of Sweden), consisting of 335 archival items (approx. 22 m) is little-known by Polish historians, although it contains very rich and diverse sources to the history of complicated relations between Poland and Sweden over the last few hundred years. This fond is divided into six parts: I. Letters and archives of the Swedish diplomatic missions in Poland 1608-1795 (v.1-245). II. Records on Swedish agents/representatives in Gdańsk 1646-1703 (vol. 246-300). III. Various records on Polish - Swedish relations 1525-1795 (vol. 301-323). IV. Letters of the Polish royal family members 1591-1797 (vol. 324-327). V. Memorandum and notes of the Polish envoys of 1555-1795 (vol. 328). VI. Records on the relations between Sweden and the Polish fief of Courland and Prussia 1524-1804 (vol. 329-335). Although the chronological scope mainly includes records from the 1520s to the early 19th century, there are also copies and extracts of documents of up to the 13th century. Most sources is primarily written in the following languages: Latin, German, French, exept part 1 and 2 that are mostly in Swedish It is worth noting that the series Diplomatica Polonica is only a small part of the whole fond Diplomatica, and records on the history of Polish are, amongst others, in a series of Muscovitica-Cosacica, TURCIC moldavo-Valachica, TURCIC-tatarica, TURCIC-Transylvanica. Part of the records from the fond Diplomatica (Riksarkivet) mainly on the period of conflicts of 17th c. is to be found on the microfilms at the Central Archives of Historical Records. Unfortunately, that microfilms were made in the 60. of 20th c. and some of them are illegible, and cover not the whole items but only some chosen parts. Because of the value of the records from the fond Diplomatica Polonica scans of this fond would undoubtedly facilitate scientific research for the Polish historians.
