The paper is dedicated to the efficiency of nitrogen fertilization of selected varieties of smooth-stalk meadow grass cultivated for seeds. The tests and analyses indicate extensive options of influencing seed yields with the level and distribution of nitrogen fertilization. Most of the studied varieties (Balin, Harfa, Conni, Limousine and Panduro) exhibited highest efficiency when fertilized with nitrogen at 100 kg N•ha-1 distributed in doses of 70 kg in early spring and 30 kg in autumn. Three of the tested varieties (Skiz, Tęcza and Niweta) showed highest yields when fertilized at 110 kg N•ha-1 in doses of 70 kg in early spring and 40 kg in autumn. Comparison of the yields with the technical and economic efficiency leads to the conclusion that for most varieties, fertilization at 100 kg N•ha-1 (in 70 and 30 kg doses) is the optimum arrangement that offers best economic effects of production of smooth-stalk meadow grass for seeds.
