The article is devoted to analysis of the grounded theory strategy. In the introduction, the leading approaches of qualitative research are compared in accordance with two criteria: 1) the parental disciplines; 2) the narrative form. The various options of the grounded theory approach are examined. In the first part of the article, the procedural particulars of the grounded theory strategy are considered. They are: the theoretical sensitivity; the process and kinds of coding; the theoretical sampling. The theoretical sensitivity includes: the insight capability, ability to interpret data, and identifying the really important facts. The coding is subdivided into three kinds, such as opened, axial and selective ones. The application of the each kind of coding corresponds to the degree of a readiness of theoretical statements. The theoretical sampling consists in selection of respondents possessing the information pertaining to considerable from the researchers' point of view aspects of the empirical reality. These aspects, in turn, are to serve as a basis of theoretically relevant notions. In the second part of the article, an example of qualitative research rested on the grounded theory approach is presented. A subject matter of the research is the phenomenon of full-time students' study under the limited time conditions.
