Within this article there has been described the achievements of Tuchola's press in years 1920–1939. The first, still German-language journal, which appeared in Tuchola in 1875, was 'Kreis-Blatt des Koeniglichen Landraths Amtes zu-Tuchel'. While, the first Polish-language periodic appeared in 1920. It was 'Oredownik na Powiat Tucholski'. Other titles from the interwar period were: 'Gazeta Tucholska' and 'Glos Tucholski'. At first, periodicals were related to the local government. They were printed to provide information about the regulations of local authorities and laws. The content of periodicals, for example in 'Oredownik na Powiat Tucholski' were divided into two parts: the official and unofficial. The second one, mainly contained the advertisements, but later it became a major element of Tuchola’s press. There was information about local and regional events, about cultural announcement and there was also printed first articles about local history.
