The study is devoted to Woodrow Wilson’s conceptions of international peace. The author rejects the popular perception of the American president as a political idealist, who contributed to the highly unstable peace of Versailles. Geopolitical revolution in East Central Europe was unavoidable and the restoration of international equilibrium seemed impossible, while the League of Nations without the U.S. was ineffective. Wilson’s tried to modernise international relations and the Versailles order offered many stateless nations between Russia and Germany an opportunity for development and modernisation.

The article discusses the main topics of research and thought of the biologist Edward O. Wilson (1929-2021): the assumptions of sociobiology, the disappearance of biodiversity, the place of humans, as well as the concept of the unity of knowledge and the future of the world, all in order to reflect on their relevace to philosophy. The author believes Wilson's scientific achievements are very valuable for the humanities and social sciences, because they express a new (biology-inspired) paradigm of thinking about human beings.

This essay examines the phenomenon of cross-cultural Shakespearean “traffic” as an import/export “business” by analyzing the usefulness of the concept crosscultural through a series of theoretical binaries: Global vs. Local Shakespeares, Glocal and Intercultural Shakespeare; and the very definition of space and place within the Shakespearean lexicon. The essay argues that theoretically, the opposition of global and local Shakespeares has a tendency to collapse, and both glocal and intercultural Shakespeares are the object of serious critique. However, the project of cross-cultural Shakespeare is sustained by the dialectic between memorialization and forgetting that attends all attempts to record these cross-cultural experiences. The meaning of crosscultural Shakespeare lies in the interpreter’s agency.
